Award-winning Author, Founder Author Event Network
During college, I made the self-promise that regardless of what field I chose to earn a living, that the whole essence and story of my life would be a Renaissance Man. Gifted and productive in a variety of fields from economics, strategy, operations, technology, history, sciences, and the arts. I plan to remain on that journey until my time in this dimension is complete. With multiple degrees in economics, finance, computer science and MBA with additional technical and professional certifications, I was blessed to enjoy a four-decade Fortune 500 leadership career in global energy, high-tech and software for companies such as IBM, Burroughs, Oxy, Oracle and Microsoft with a few start-ups. Known as a thought-leader and innovator my roles spanned finance/ accounting, strategy, mergers & acquisitions, operations, capital planning, product development, complex system consulting and sales, partnerships and start-ups. I've been involved with change management tied to technical innovations since the early 80s. Most of my roles reported to VP or CxO or within startups as CxO. My concepts of leadership comes from working with the worst and best the industry can offer, and more then a few times, building my own team from scratch to accomplish something others warned would fail. Leadership is less about what you accomplish, and far more about how to build up others to succeed beyond and create succession planning. Now retired, and a full time author, with fiction and nonfiction titles, I lead a heard of independent authors, which is very much like herding cats. Leadership is not about imposing authority, but opening opportunities for others to improve.
