šŸ‘‹ Welcome to Self Publishing for Leaders — Start Here First!
You're in the right place. Publishing a book as a thought leader is one of the most powerful things you can do for your business and your legacy. It positions you as the authority in your space, opens doors to speaking engagements, media features, and high-value clients, and creates something that outlasts any single conversation or social media post. Whether your book has been living in your head for years or you're just beginning to put the pieces together, this community was built for you. Self Publishing for Leaders exists for one reason: to help thought leaders like you stop saying 'someday' and start saying 'published'. This is a community space for professionals, coaches, consultants, speakers, and experts who are ready to share their knowledge with the world through a book — and use that book to build authority, attract clients, and leave a lasting legacy. Here's How it Works: Step 1: Introduce Yourself. Head over to the Introduce Yourself post and tell us who you are, what you do, and what your book is about - or what you want it to be about. Take a picture of yourself at your workspace, with your book or your favorite book (pets at workspaces are also welcome!) Don't be shy: this community is judgment-free. Step 2: Check the Calendar at the top of our community and make sure to add our two FREE community engagements: Group Coaching Workshops on the third Tuesday of the month and our Coffee Chats on the second Thursdays of the month. There's a convenient calendar download for each event! Come to as many as you like, and make sure to invite a friend! Step 3: Invite other Skoolers you know to join the group using your invite link. The more people join, the more people there are to promote to! Step 4: Explore the Categories. Browse the community categories to find the conversations most relevant to your current journey stage. Jump in, ask questions, and share what you know.

KDP: Mistakes Most New Authors Make (Replay)
Hello friends! If you missed this morning's KDP workshop, here is the unedited replay. You get to watch me learn in real time...LOL! Great session, and the members who attended now have more insight into their KDP publishing questions. Make sure to check the calendar; all the free workshops and the Author's Brew times are posted for the year. You can click the event and download a calendar reminder, making it super easy to plan ahead for the opportunity to attend the coaching and coffee chats!

@Sheryl Robinson Check your KDP account and look at the print book status. It may be that you have keywords in your search terms that are part of your title or subtitle.

@Joanna Kasner You're very welcome! There's so much erroneous information around, that I want to make sure the authors I come in contact with are using the correct information to successfully publish their book. If you know other authors who would enjoy this community, please send them your link. If you invite the most authors that join, you win a free coaching session!
Astronomy buff?
My first encounter with falling in love with astronomy was at the age of six. Do you remember those book clubs in school? Scholastic used to send home that paper flyer with age-appropriate books, and you would fill out the paper order form, cut across the dotted line, then put the order, along with a check, into an envelope and give it to your teacher. Two weeks later, your books magically show up! I ordered a "Learning Astronomy" book in first grade. I read the entire book and wanted to be an astronaut when I grew up. I put a chocolate-bunny scratch-and-sniff sticker on the top-right corner. I still have that book! When I clean out my garage this summer, I'll post a picture. I had no idea that when I moved to Oregon, there would be so many astronomy opportunities! We have designated and certified dark skies, the Oregon Star Party, and other events. Most are in the western part of the state, where there's desert and dark skies - because you are definitely not going to see stars in detail under the light pollution of Portland! Here is the Oregon star guide. Check it out! I am very excited to go on a road trip to Eastern Oregon this August to see the Perseids! https://issuu.com/visitcentraloregon/docs/2025_2026_dark_sky_guide_
