Would appeciate feedback on set list...
Hey gang! I have a new gig coming up on September 18th. I have never played there before and I would appreciate some feedback on my tentative set list (attached). The gig is at a B-B-Q restaurant which also has a bar. Currently they only have music sporadically. I will definitely be the most "rocky" act that they have had. I was curious how familiar you are with the songs on my list. It is primarily classic rock with a few country sprinkled in. Thanks in advance!

Good set list. I don’t do any of the “hair metal” but I know them well and I hadn’t really thought of trying to do them on solo Acoustic. I might give it a go. It depends on the age group, but I reckon you certainly pass the test of “upbeat, well-known songs”
🎥 Anyone Up for a Live Chat?
I'm thinking about organising a live group chat here on Skool and wanted to see if there's enough interest. Nothing too structured for the first one. Just a chance for us to actually meet each other, have a chat and talk about anything related to live gigging. Ask questions, swap stories, share ideas, complain about venues... all the important professional development stuff. 😂 If there's enough interest, I'll find a day and time that hopefully works for most people. So, who'd be up for it? Give me a YES below and let me know roughly where in the world you are so I can work around the different time zones. 👍

Vocal effects
I am curios. I just sing into a mic through a PA with no effects. The mixer has a simple EQ and I basically set it centre. I did look at one of those harmoniser type peddles but it relied on having a guitar input to work out the harmonics. Too complex for me. Any of you use a simple effects peddle that just adds a little depth to the vocals?

I think a bit of reverb is a must. I use a Boss VE-8 and have found it to be really good for many reasons
Can I play a song?
It's common for people to ask if they can play a song, and this is a balancing act. I'm there to play and work, and I also I can't get compensated if they damage the guitar. I say I'm sorry, but I don't do that - but it's always difficult to say no without bringing down the mood. I'd like to hear how others handle this, because it happens a lot.

I always say the venue has a rule that I’m not allowed to let anyone else play.
Acoustic Guitars
Hi Todd, I just signed up to this community as mentioned by you which is great to talk to other musicians. As mentioned on YouTube, I’m always interested in musicians equipment, especially what acoustic guitars they’re gigging with. Can you talk about what you’re currently using and why and what you started with? Thanks, Andy

Started gigging with a 20 year old Martin OOO 16C GTE, with a Fishman Prefix Premium Blend pickup. Really good pickup and nice guitar. I acquired a 2023 Martin D-18 in a closing down sale of a music shop because it was my “dream” guitar and it was so cheap. Didn’t put a pickup in it for 6 months because my gigging guitar was fine. Then decided I wanted my favorite guitar to be my gigging guitar because I prefer to play it, and I think it’s cool, so I put a K&K pure mini pickup in it. Sounds great! Does it sound better than the other one? Dunno. Depends. Who cares?
