Published Set List
Hey folks. Happy Saturday. Do any of you print out a set lists where patrons can pick songs that they want to hear? How has it been working for you? I thinking of trying it. I will let you know how it goes in future posts.

I am also interested in this. I only have 110 songs so far and was curious if this cuts down the requests for songs that I don't know. "Sorry, I don't know any Taylor Swift, but how about some Guns & Roses instead?"😅
Driving my life away!
What is the furthest distance that you have driven for a solo gig? I live in an area of Ontario, Canada where there are limited venues. The greatest distance I have driven is 45 minutes to a gig (about 50k, 30 miles) one way. Is any distance worth it if the price is right?

I try to limit my driving to no more than 20 miles. Which is the distance from one side of town to the other. If I was offered a gig 100 miles from home, part of the compensation would need to include lodging at a 4 star hotel. Might as well make it a mini paid vacation...
The Great Debate...
Today's question: Seated or Standing? Why? Let the Debate begin...

Personally, I like to be seated. It gives me more control of the guitar. In addition, I'm clumsy. If I'm singing, playing guitar, stepping on a harmony pedal and standing, I would probably fall down. 😄
Tuning down???
So I used to play in Rock bands many moons ago. During that time I was the lead singer/rhythm guitarist. In those bands we always tuned down a half step (that made it easier to sing Zeppelin, AC/DC, etc.). That has carried on with my solo acoustic performances. My question is, how many of you tune down and if so, how low do you drop your tuning?
🎤 Muso Question of the Week.
Firstly, a big thank you to the OG members who've joined while this place is still brand new. It's great to have you here, and I'm hoping we can build this into a genuinely useful community for working and aspiring gigging musicians. There are already decades of experience between the people in here, so hopefully this becomes a place where we can share what we've learned, help each other out, have a laugh at the ridiculous side of gigging, and maybe save each other from learning EVERYTHING the hard way. So, to get things rolling... What's ONE thing you know about gigging now that you wish someone had told you when you started?

That your location can dictate the style of music that you should play. I live in Tucson, Arizona and probably 90% of the gigs here are based on country music. I like some country but I'm a classic rock kinda guy (Beatles, Petty, Cheap Trick, etc.) It came as a surprise to me how difficult it is to get classic rock gigs in a city this size.

I used to sing in rock and country band many years ago. Put down the guitar and 30 years later I have decided to take a stab at solo gigging.
