The moment most people quit before their children’s book ever exists
Most people do not fail at writing a children’s book because of talent. They quit at the moment they realize writing the story is only about 30 percent of the journey. The real drop off happens when people hit one of these moments Not knowing if their idea is good enough Overthinking age range and word count Getting stuck on how publishing actually works Feeling silly saying out loud that they want to be an author If you have ever stalled at any of those points, comment ME below. You are not behind. You are exactly where almost every published author once stood.

@Zack Bush Looking forward to it :) a clear plan gives you realistic steps you can see yourself taking!
One Sentence Check-In…
In one sentence, tell us what made you fall in love with children’s books as a kid and which book you still remember most and why.

The books I remember from childhood are the Lucy Daniels series Animal Ark, the Indian in the Cupboard series (actually, I might go and dig that out now for my kids!) and the Chronicles of Narnia series! What made me fall in love - I'm not sure actually - I think it was just being part of a world that wasn't the one I lived in.
Where are you in your children’s book journey right now?
Let’s make today’s community stronger by learning about one another. 👇 In the comments, tell us ONE of these: 1. Your writing stage (idea / first draft / editing / stuck) 2. Your biggest win so far 3. One thing slowing you down right now Example: “I’m drafting chapter 2 and feeling excited but stuck on character voices.” No need to be perfect. Just share what’s real for you today.

I'm at just beyond stage of having thought about what I want to write for a long time - I like to stick an idea in my head and let it run around. I've written my first draft of the first 4 to 5 books in my series and want to start doing a bit of editing and some initial illustration exploration!

@Zack Bush Thanks Zack - looking forward to seeing how the community and the members evolve together!
And the Illustrations Begin!
I met with an illustrator yesterday! We are moving forward with the development of the main character to see if we can capture my vision and the mood of the book. It is actually happening!

Such an exciting step - seeing your character come to life will be awesome!
A quick reset question for writers tonight…
Quick check in before the day ends. If you stripped away publishing, money, and validation for a second and wrote purely for impact, who would you be writing for right now? A child who feels unseen A parent who feels overwhelmed A kid who needs confidence Or maybe your own younger self… Comment with just one sentence: “I would write for ______ because ______.” No overthinking. Trust your gut. I’ll reply to all of these personally.

I would write for my children because I want to help them build self-confidence and empathy, as well as learn and think for themselves.
