Life does get busy! But never let your passion die or wither away! I know I haven’t been as active on here as I should have and that is entirely my own fault for failure of time management. The school is getting quite chaotic considering this is my last push until I head back to Lejeune. I’ll make up for it! Send me some tunes you’d like for me to cover and I’ll do my best to provide while sharing my own thought process on how to go about song analysis!

Today’s topic is LISTENING!!

I made a post last night but it didn’t go through due to server work on Skool, so here is the post. We finally made it to the end! I want to thank everybody who decided to follow along for this January challenge as well as everybody who joined us last month! I want to give a special shoutout to @Ashton Edwin @Jayna Koskie @Guillermo Uribe @Alica T. Marie For contributing, sharing videos, commenting, and livening up this community! It has been a blast getting to connect with you all and cheers to more in this community! For my last practice I wanted to improvise and let loose a bit. It’s a longer video and near the end you can see I get lost and begin to constrain myself which created a pretty cool melody.

Today’s focus was dynamics. And focusing on not just reading a piece of music. But complimenting the rest of the ensemble. Listening to the song in your head before an assessment can help you make mature musical decisions instead of playing like an individual.

The working person. The searching person. The mother of 3 who has no time to make music. The “slow n’ steady” individuals. The creatives and the souls who cannot go on without creating something. Musician- is an identity associating the relationship of a person to their living embodiment of the creation of sound and rhythm. To be a musician means you live music. It’s a matter of just doing it. When connected to others, especially those with more experience, making music feels less intimidating and more like breathing. It is a way to translate the senses. So that is why I show up. To encourage YOU to create something from you! Each week I will be posting a PROMPT, each one with its own twist and flavor. This keeps ideas flowing and creates novelty which helps the brain memorize what is being played. From there, posting is optional but encouraged. If you don’t want to post your progress during a week, I ask that you comment on fellow members’ posts and share a positive note. Fair enough?😎 I have also just added the “Show n’ tell 📖🎶” category. This is for any of you who have been working on something tasty and really want to share it with everyone. Ask for feedback or just simply play us a song, it’s all welcome.
