Dialing in that Nashville Sound
This might be off topic for this forum but thought I would ask some of my musician friends out there. I've been writing and recording some of my own songs in Logic Pro. One thing I'm trying to nail down is the Nashville sound for my guitar. I'm talking about what you hear in most modern country songs these days. I have a Fender Telecaster and Strat, Fender Super Champ Amp, several pedals and lots of guitar plug-in's for Logic Pro. I know this is a broad question with potentially lots of answers, but looking for some general guidance on how to get started.. Thanks for your responses....
Mixing dilemma.
Hey guys and gyals. So when people talk about mixing in expensive headphones or in a treated room, the quality we hear is way better in regards to mixing. Flatter responses etc. But is that just for a comfort and time thing? I ask as I’ve been wondering if I’m flogging a dead horse trying to improve my mixes. My set up consists of Beyerdynamic DT 770 80ohm headphones, these are also closed back to add to the dilemma. I got these before I knew anything about headphones but they seem to be ok to me. But I have nothing to really compare with. My room has the smallest amount of acoustic treatment, which is a few foam squares on one of my walls. And a ton of things inside to make up for absorption. I live in shared accommodation so my life is in my room. And my monitors are KRK 7 G4s. Am I to believe it’s impossible to get a mix worthy of sounding up there with the best of them with this setup? Also my main question was going to be, if my headphones playback bass for example that I presume to be a little coloured, wouldn’t that simply mean not being too aggressive with it? Or at least be as aggressive as I think it sounds just right, then turn it down a little as I know my headphones are upping it a little? I ask because people always mention only mixing in good headphones that are open back. But I mean, that’s just for best experience right? I can still make exceptional sounding music with my setup right? This one gets me so disheartened and I think is preventing me from releasing any music! I don’t have the funds to upgrade to better equipment, and I don’t want to stop learning. I just Ben feel I’m ready to just make a start, but then I hear all the comments about not being able to get good mixes in an untreated room or using low end costing headphones. I absolutely loved my DT 700s until I started reading up on all the nuances. I still love them, but feel I shouldn’t!

I use Audio-Technica ATH-M50x for my mixing and really like them.
Mastering Advice
I have a few tracks that I recently recorded in a music studio. Overall, I'm happy with the tracks and the mixing the engineer performed but the tracks have not been mastered. Just looking for advice on how to get these mastered. Has anyone used any of the AI mastering services (like from Waves)? Or, do you have any recommendations of a person or company that does quality mastering for a reasonable price? Thanks for your help!

@Dana Bradshaw Hi Dana, sorry it's been a while since your offer to master a track for me. Just checking in, if you are still up for that? If so, I think I can give you access to the track via DropBox. Just let me know. Thanks - Greg

@Brian Couture Thanks Brian, I've asked Dana (above) to help me out. Looks like the tracks have been somewhat mastered by my studio guy. So, not sure if there's much to do with them. I'm hoping to do some other songs shortly, so I'll let you know....
🚨 Want to work with our record label?
Well folks… it’s time. If you’ve been following us for a while, then you already know that our record label, MAD Records, is a little different than traditional labels. Instead of signing artists and taking a share of their music in return (gross 🤮), we sign artists and build education programs around them. We then use profits from these education programs to fund the record deals. We pretty much spent all of 2024 beta testing this new model, and the response from the community has just been overwhelmingly positive. So… with the beta testing now out of the way…. it’s finally time for us to unveil our first official MAD Records education program. Instead of just another online course… this 3-month program actually lets you sit in on our label meetings with our signed artist so you can watch in real time as we promote, develop, and monetize their music. You then get direct mentorship from our team so you can take what you learn in these meetings and implement it into your own artist career. But instead of telling you all about it in a long + boring article, I filmed this video to explain exactly how this program works, what it includes, and how you can learn more if you’re interested. [Watch me awkwardly talk into a camera about our new program, “The Artist Incubator” by clicking this link right here….. go ahead…… give it a click] I also want to take a moment to personally thank everyone for the amazing support behind this new model… we’re really trying to change the music industry for the better, and I’m so excited to finally unveil this to the world. I look forward to working with you all…… or…. at least those of you who join. 👉 👉 👉 Learn more about “The Artist Incubator” by clicking here. Looking forward to working with you... New Logic Compatibility
Hi all, I’m just wondering if I’m safe updating my Logic yet? I’m on a MacBook Pro 2019 i7 running Ventura 13.7. I’m currently using Logic Pro X Version 11.0.1. Am I safe upgrading to Logic 11? T.I.A

I am running a newer MacBook with the Apple M1 chip and running the latest version of Sequoia. I downloaded Logic 11 a month or so ago and I have not had any issues with it. Working well for me. Good luck!
