Our member @Glauco Portolan lives in Australia and has a wealth of equine knowledge! From his own words - his background is built on the reality of horses—the dirt, the sweat, and the daily maintenance that most people overlook. I’ve spent years decoding the "why" & "how" and the complex social ripples of the herd. I am spotlighting Glauco as we need more true horseman who care and understand horses in a way most don't.

Thanks Stacey, very kind words. The horse I am resting with was owned by a young lady. A beautiful horse indeed, that I wish I had been able to take ownership of. Unfortunately had to have its tail amputated. The look was not pleasing to the owner. I know it was moved on, or worse. I never learned of the outcome. The tail as important it is, is not vital to a horse. It would have went on to be a reliable companion for the correct person.
Ruffle Feathers??
I saw this (can't remember where) but it's cause for reflection. 🐎Every breed association promotes their breed like it is the best one out there. Then the people who love that breed repeat it, defend it, and build their whole identity around it. According to the ads, the articles, the breed pages, and the devoted owners, their breed is the smartest, the smoothest, the kindest, the toughest, the most versatile, the most athletic, the most loyal, and somehow also the most misunderstood. Funny how every breed just happens to be the best breed when the people selling it are the ones writing the description. 🤔 The best breed for one person is not automatically the best breed for another person. What fits one rider, one trainer, one program, one discipline, one body type, one personality, and one set of goals may be completely wrong for somebody else. ❓️That all being said, I always felt a good horse was one that had a good mind. What breeds have you ridden that worked for you and which didnt?

@Stacey Youlios yeah Im a little concerned 😟. Mostly because Im semi handicapped through injury and age. But I will go slow 🐌. Hopefully I will able to find a competent rider once he 8s under saddle.

@Stacey Youlios Apparantly, one can be ridden, but zero education and hardly any time on it. One is so forward that she doesn't bother with it. One to be broken in (started). We like to say started. Will be interesting. Not my first rodeo, but may be my last lol 😆
