On the subject of Improv
Okay so who is up for a little challenge? All levels. Wherever you are you can try this. Just learn the "natural" notes on the B string. That's the white key notes on a piano. No sharps (#'s) No flats (♭'s). Just BC D EF G A BC ... Any fingers, no hidden trip lines... just the B string 🤘😎 Good luck

I get it but surely that’s the c major scale just starting on B
3 Chord Shapes All chords in All Keys now public
This is an introduction to 'drop 2' voicings (A String Root) for you guys that are learning about them, or if you are a teacher maybe this approach can work with some of your guys... These voicings are a great for arranging or when used as an improvisational tool when looking for melodic lines. Again, a lot of calls coming from OUTside the house... feedback from fret schoolers much appreciated. Happy playing ! 🤩

Hey Jon Another great post really like using the b string as a melody line - seems similar to the Beatles “Blackbird” Gonna go and give it ago 👍🏻
Learn to Strum 100 songs in 20 minutes
This came from various questions regarding general rhythm, one of the three legs of the stool. Without it much of music would just become noise. There may also be a kernel of useful information for some of you guys on this group working on more advanced material or perhaps some of you that are teaching people who are getting stuck. It is more about the method than the focus of the result of the method. If you see anything in any of the description "link libraries" for any video that you think is a good one to go public next week give me a shout. https://youtu.be/P49wzr-J_OM?si=g18OLbf29r26NxDr

Hey Jon I guess an extension to that once you have a nice rhythm is to relax so you get nice back beat style we hear in soooo many songs
Scio Me Nescire
This short -ish little 6 min video is what helped me a bit with some associations with Music therapy and SEN guys at times. The scio me nescire "I know that I don't know" (rough translation) refers to what many have heard me say sometimes. It is about paying lesser and lesser attention to concepts or things that we think or that we believe that we already know, or know how to do. One of my usual examples is the alphabet. Do you really know it? Really?... Do you know the ordinal number of each letter? Can recite it from any point smoothly? Can you say it backwards from Z to A as easily as A to Z?? Can you really easily manipulate a pencil as in the time stamps shown at 1:44 and 5:21? https://youtu.be/RVBTNyc0ioQ?si=JUyNT3ygewEBOvbI

Since watching this - I’ve been walking around college with a pencil and changing fingers in differing patterns without thinking too much about , seems to work nicely! Cheers Amigo !🎸
Thanks Jon x
Well Jon, a big thank you to you. I finally achieved what I set out to do. I joined your club just after Covid to improve my confidence and be able to jam with total strangers off the cuff and this weekend I achieved it. It also received a positive response, much to my relief, so thank you for all the time and effort you invest in us. 😘
