Six Years, and Grateful
Six years ago, I was recovering from cancer surgery. I had been diagnosed just weeks earlier, and everything moved so fast that there was barely time to catch my breath. It was shocking, disorienting, and honestly surreal. One moment you are living your normal life, and the next, you are learning a whole new vocabulary you never asked to know. This week, six years later, my latest scan came back clear. I wanted to share this here because I know many of us are struggling in different ways. Sometimes it feels big and heavy. Other times it is quieter, like trying to eat a little better, wanting more energy, or wishing our bodies felt more supported than they do right now. I know it can be tempting to wonder whether the effort really matters. For me, I truly believe it does. I was already eating well when I was diagnosed, and everything I did before and after became part of my healing journey. Not as a guarantee or a shield from life, but as a foundation. Eating whole food plant-based, moving my body, prioritizing sleep, learning how to reduce stress. These were not quick fixes. They were daily acts of care, repeated over time. That is why these are the foundations of what I teach. Not because they are trendy, or perfect, or easy, but because I have lived them. And I have seen, in my own life and in so many others, that when you have strong foundations, people can weather an incredible amount. So if you are showing up imperfectly, making small changes, choosing nourishment more often than not, please know that it matters. It always does. Today, I am healthy, grateful, and clear of disease. And I am deeply thankful for the body that carried me here, and for the simple practices that supported me along the way. 💛

One of our members @Duna Zurcher messaged me that the #Marry Me Chickpeas recipe has become a staple in her house (see screenshot below)! I made this recipe last week too and it comes together so quick and it's SO good. Also Duna mentioned that vegetable broth cartons take up pantry space. I recommend the low sodium Better than Buillon paste. Add 1 tsp paste per cup of broth needed. So much more convenient! Tell me! What's been your favorite recipe in our recipe hub so far?

Woohoo! Love this haha, we have it weekly at our house too. It's the most comforting food we make during the winter especially.

@Nadia Quraishi I’ve had it with both and sometimes pasta too. The sauce mixes nicely with it.

A Heart-Centered February
February is here, and I’m really looking forward to what we’re moving into together this month. Heart Health Month feels like such a natural moment to slow down, reconnect, and look at the heart in a more holistic way, physically, emotionally, and in how we care for ourselves day to day. Here’s what’s coming up inside the membership: For VIP members: • Growth Session Call on February 10th @12pm EST This is our monthly intention-setting call, where we take time to reflect, reset, and get clear on how we want to move through the month ahead. It’s a supportive space to ground your goals and reconnect with what actually matters right now. • VIP LIVE Cooking Session on Tues, February 17th @ 12pm EST We’ll be cooking together and focusing on heart-friendly foods that support long-term health and nourishment. This class is meant to feel practical, enjoyable, and approachable, with ideas you can actually use in your everyday life. • The Missing 🔑 to Heart Health on Tues, February 24th @ 12pm EST This training will be centered around heart health, going beyond nutrition alone. We’ll talk about supportive habits, stress, and the bigger picture of what it means to care for your heart in a sustainable, realistic way. **Premium members are welcome to join this session live, replays will live inside of VIP** For ALL members: • Afternoon Tea Community Chat on Thurs, February 12th @ 2pm EST Open to all members. A relaxed, come-as-you-are space to connect, share, and spend time together as a community. I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone and catching up.

Taking it easy this week 🌈
Hi all. It's been a hard week. My beautiful 8 year old bunny, Skunky, passed away last night after a difficult few months, and especially this past week. He was the most loveable, friendliest bunny. It's been a really hard day for my husband and I. If you've ever suffered the loss of a pet, you know that they are family. He came into our lives in the summer of 2018 and got us through so many hard times, including cheering me up during my own illness in 2020 and 2021. He was so loved. He loved greens, berries, and ALL the treats. I used to make him and our other bunny special celebration plates of food. We had amazing times together. We will miss him so much. Having said that, I've decided to do what feels good this week and not force anything. When I can, I'll be making some updates and popping in when I feel called. So this week in Plant-Powered Kitchen Club: - No VIP call tomorrow - Please post and support each other in the community, as that's what community is all about - I'll be updating for our Feb theme focused around the heart - I'll be setting up a coffee chat for Feb Thanks for being here ❤️
