✨ You Don't Need Hours - Just Consistency
Most people think they need long workouts to see results, but research shows that even 40–60 minutes a week of focused yoga or Pilates (that’s just 10 minutes, 4–6 days a week) can dramatically improve: Core strength Flexibility Balance Back pain Mood + energy It’s not about the length of the session — it’s the regular signal you send your body. If you can give yourself 10 minutes a day, you can change everything! 💬 What’s one small daily habit you want to commit to this week?

@Jj Vee I’m so glad the cat–cow already gave you some relief 🙏🏽 it’s such a simple but powerful move for waking up the spine and easing some tension. A 10-minute daily Yogalates routine is perfect for lower-back discomfort. Since I can’t diagnose anything, I’ll keep it gentle and general, but here’s what usually helps most people: • Cat–Cow — to mobilise the spine • Pelvic tilts — to switch on deep core support • Hip Bridges— to strengthen the glutes (amazing for back pain) • Supine twists — to release the lower back • Gentle hamstring + hip-flexor stretches — because tight hips often pull on the low back.. My mini classes start Monday, and I can absolutely create a beginner-friendly “Lower Back Relief” flow for you to follow daily. In the meantime, if anything feels tight, pinchy, or uncomfortable, let me know so I can give you a gentler or more specific modification ☺️

Hi everyone, I’m Gaby — thank you for being here. Here is a little snippet into who I am and why I have created this community 🩷 I grew up very shy and never really believed I could teach yoga. I used to sit with my Nan and tell her that one day I would teach, but deep down I didn’t think I was capable. When she passed, I made it my mission to finally follow through — and that’s when everything changed! I completed my 200hr yoga certification and began teaching in 2021. Around that time, I took my first Pilates class and instantly fell in love. I went on to earn my Pilates qualification, and as I taught both, I started naturally blending the two. That’s when I discovered how powerful they are together — the strength, core control, and posture correction of Pilates combined with the flexibility, mobility, and mindfulness of yoga. In 2023, I launched my first Yogalates class in Hereford, and people loved it. Eventually, I left my job and home to travel, but the one thing I truly missed was teaching. So I made the decision to bring my classes online — even though I’m incredibly camera shy. It’s been an interesting, uncomfortable, but beautiful journey already. Through teaching and coaching, I’ve seen how life-changing this combination is: you don’t have to choose between Pilates or Yoga, or spend time on both individually and burn yourself out. I created this community to show you exactly that. I’m so grateful you’re here. 💛

@Jj Vee Ahh JJ, welcome!! So happy to have you here ☺️ Yogalates is such a beautiful blend, especially if you already enjoy the grounding side of yoga and are curious about adding a little more strength and control through Pilates. That memory of doing Surya Namaskar on a rooftop at sunrise sounds magical! No wonder it stayed with you ✨ And restorative yoga on a Friday evening… absolute heaven 🤩 You’re in the perfect place as a beginner — everything here will be designed to ease you in gently, build confidence, and help you feel stronger and more connected week by week. My mini classes will start Monday, I can't wait to see how this journey goes for you! If there’s anything specific you’d love to learn or work on first, let me know 🤍
Lateral vs Diaphragmatic Breathing
Diaphragmatic Breathing Also known as belly breathing. On the inhale, the diaphragm lowers and the belly expands. Promotes relaxation and release Helps calm the nervous system Deepens stretches and supports slow, mindful movement Used more in yoga: Yoga focuses on softening the belly, relaxing the body, and creating space in poses. This breath helps you settle, open, and stay present. Lateral Breathing Also called ribcage breathing. The belly stays still while the ribs expand sideways and slightly back. Activates the deep core muscles Supports and protects the spine Allows you to move while keeping the core engaged Used more in Pilates: Pilates requires stability, strength, and control. Lateral breathing keeps the core switched on so you can move safely through exercises like planks, roll-downs, and leg work. Why Both Matter in Yogalates Yoga-style diaphragmatic breathing helps you relax, stretch deeper, and reset. Pilates-style lateral breathing helps you stay strong, stable, and supported during movement. Using both gives your body what it needs at the right moment 😊
