I LOST IT BECAUSE OF A NAP
Well, I lost my flame today! After keeping my daily 10-activity streak going since last October, I worked a rare opening shift this morning, came home wiped out, fell asleep — and woke up 90 minutes too late with only 7 activities done. You snooze, you literally lose! 🔥 I’m not bummed about it. Starting fresh today, and I’ll have it back in 30 days. Which got me thinking. Who wants to join me? The flame just means you’ve completed 10 activities a day for 30 days straight — liking a post, leaving a comment, making your own post (and it being liked 👍🏻) It sounds like a lot, but it’s really just 10 minutes a day of genuinely looking around and saying “I see you, good stuff!” to someone in the community. This one or another. If you’ve been curious about it but haven’t tried, this is your sign. Drop a 🔥 in the comments if you’re in! Oh! And thumbs up 👍🏻 this post of course. It's a simple acknowledgement of support. In 30 days, we'll have a celebration of something for the accomplishment. Something specific to/for the What's Up Boomer Skool group. I have an idea 💡

@Karen Taylor I am about seven days into the 30-day run.

@Karen Taylor no that's what happened. If you miss one day the flame is extinguished and you have to start over so it's kind of a commitment activity as well for the platform and the people that you're here for. Now you can look up the map on your profile page. If you scroll down just a little bit you'll see a graph and each little dark green square is a day that meets the minimum 10 activities or more. Otherwise it's either white or it starts out gray, light green, and then dark green.
🗓️ In like a lion, out like a lamb. MARCH 1st
Here's some background (compliments of Gemini) of this saying. Weather here is quite nice (Az). 🦁 In Like a Lion: Folklore or Physics? 🐑 Happy March 1st! As we kick off the month, you’ve likely heard the old adage: "If March comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb." As a researcher, I dug into the "why" behind this phrase, and it’s a fascinating mix of 17th-century observation and celestial timing. The Historical Roots The earliest printed version of this proverb appears in Thomas Fuller’s Gnomologia (1732), but the sentiment dates back even further. It wasn't just about the wind; it was about survival. For early agricultural societies, a "lion-like" start (harsh, freezing weather) was actually seen as a good omen. If winter "spent itself" early, it paved the way for a gentle, "lamb-like" spring just in time for planting. The Astronomical Twist Some historians believe the phrase is actually a reference to the stars, not the clouds: * The Lion: At the start of March, the constellation Leo (the Lion) is rising in the east at sunset. * The Lamb: By the end of the month, the constellation Aries (the Ram/Lamb) is setting in the west. Is it Accurate? Statistically? Rarely. Weather patterns don't actually follow a "balancing" rule. In fact, a stormy start to March often predicts a volatile month as the jet stream shifts. But as a piece of cultural heritage, it serves as a great reminder of our ancestors' attempt to find rhythm in the chaos of the changing seasons. > Fun Fact: An older, slightly more cynical version of the proverb says: "March comes in with an adder's head and goes out with a peacock's tail." 🦫 On a side note, didn't Punxsutawney Phil see his shadow this year?

@Linda Courtney well, I had the same feeling and looked it up. This is 140 year tradition of which there have been 110 times he has seen his shadow!

@Karen Taylor there's a movie about it with Bill Murray and it's called Groundhog Day. I highly recommend it's worth watching.

@Karen Taylor creative people back in the day used to have these long story lines on their voice messaging, which were very creative and fun to listen to before you left your message.

@Tav G. You're the second person to mention Thomas Guides. I never heard of it and had to look it up. Seems it was mostly a West Coast or Western State thing.
So, here's the milestone ✅
The milestone reveal! Skip to minute 16:15 ... you're welcome 😉 In Tuesday's video I will share why and how this relates to me and this time of life.

@David Schwartz I think that would work. Since the beginning, interviewing community of boomers has been suggested to me over and over. Thanks for your feedback and I appreciate your comments.
Accomplishing a milestone this coming week!
❓Retirement riddle: 💵 This number isn’t dollars. 6️⃣ It isn’t my age. 7️⃣ 📈 But it might be the most important “success” number I’ve hit in a long time. 🤔 Guess what it is. I’m going live Saturday morning to talk about it, and the video will post Tuesday. Like this post and guesses are welcome in the comments 👊🏻 (It's also plays into why I missed posting a video this past Tuesday!) 😖

@Tav G. I actually got the highest blood sugar I've had since I started checking it over the last six years. That's what I get for falling off the wagon of no sugar four or so months ago but that's not the milestone.
