How I became a GHL certified admin + tips for anyone preparing for the exam
I took the exam last Friday and passed on my first attempt. I thought I'd share a bit about my journey and a few things that helped me prepare. I've been working around GHL for about a year, but I only started doing hands-on implementation work for clients about 3 months ago. During that time, I took courses, set up GHL for my own business, and helped 3 clients build and improve their systems. Honestly, I found the build tasks in the exam easier than some of the challenges I've faced in real client projects. 😅 The biggest challenge was the time limit. You only get 60 minutes, so you need to work quickly and know your way around the platform. I finished my build in 36 minutes, which gave me enough time to test everything before submitting. A few tips for those preparing for the GoHighLevel certified admin exam: 1. Don't just watch the videos. Follow along with the lessons and practice everything yourself in a sub-account. You'll learn much faster by doing. 2. Get comfortable with the platform. Spend time exploring GHL and learning where different settings and features are. Knowing where to find things can save you valuable time during the exam. 3. Build workflows manually. Avoid relying on AI to build workflows while you're learning. Create them step by step so you understand how triggers, actions, and conditions work together. 4. Practice with a timer. Try completing similar build tasks in 40 to 45 minutes. This helps you get comfortable working under pressure and leaves you some time to test everything. 5. Connect with people who have passed. Join community calls, ask questions, and learn from others who have already taken the exam. Hearing about their experiences can help you feel more prepared. If you're preparing for the exam, feel free to drop your questions below. I'll do my best to help based on my experience. 😊

@Glen Hutsell The test checks if you can build a sub-account for a real business. Imagine a professional service provider comes to you and says, I want to set up my business on GoHighLevel. Here is my business information. I want to make sure I can collect leads from the site and nurture them to book a call with me. I do not log in to the CRM unless I need to. Whenever something important happens, I should get a notification on my email and phone. I do not want to send the follow-ups myself because I forget all the time.
The more I use GoHighLevel, the more I realize the automations aren’t the messy part. It’s keeping track of everything around them.
My current setup is gohighlevel.com for CRM, funnels, and automations, chatgpt.com for working through ideas and troubleshooting, and floment.ai for organizing projects, tasks, and what I’m actually working on next. Keeps GHL focused on running the business instead of becoming the place I dump every random task and idea. Curious how other GHL users organize the stuff that happens outside the CRM?

We ended up creating an external application where we connected all the tools needed to run our business.
