Budget and Variety
Hey everybody, I have a question about variety importance. I have always been on a budget, but since some difficulties now, it will be even more the case. The thing is that I really want to continue with this diet, I find it even more important to recover now, but I will have to do some more calculs. And I am questioning myself about variety importance. I was trying calculating some different shopping lists and definitely having more bananas is making things cheaper. But I was asking myself if it would be a problem to have for exemple half of my calories coming from bananas for 2-4 months from now? Completing with other seasonal fruits and celery, lettuce and other fruits/veggies? Or if more variety is necessary? I am definitely on a moment of needing nutrition, my body still asks for more calories than I actually move, so I don’t want to compromise my health. But I thought that having more bananas with grapes, pomegranate, persimmon, pear, tangerines, apples, mangoes and still big salads with nuts and seeds from time to time could be an idea, what do you think? I also checked at some associations to maybe get some free things left, or discount products. But yeah no other solution for now like bulk etc. Thx for the reading, looking forward to hear from you ⭐️

Cheap food per calorie is government subsidized, for the express purpose of keeping people sick. Fruit trees provide free health food. Grow more fruit trees, and make friends with people who do so. Additionally, purchase in season fruit for highest quality at lowest price, and whenever possible, purchase by the case.

Want Suggestions for Smoothies
I have a cheap Oyster brand blender and I use it to blend my Avocado and lime dressing for my big salad for the day. Not sure if it'd be a good one to make smoothies or not but wanted to ask and get suggestions for blenders that would be better especially for chopping up lettuce too. Making and eating my daily salads takes me about 1.5 hours so on days I don't want to spend that much time I was thinking of making a vegetable smoothie. Typically on salad I will do lettuce green or red, hemp seeds, avocado and lime dressing, carrots, red onion, celery, then I'll have one other topping usually cucumber or tomato. Not saying I want to use all of that for a smoothie but just wondering what would taste good. So please provide recipe suggestions if you have any? Thanks. I could add some fruit but I do not want to add any fruit that would make for improper food combining but if that fruit works good with fat like avocado or even nuts or seeds then that'll be fine. I also want to say that I am on a 2500 calorie diet 80/10/10 raw vegan and I'm doing it very simply doing one big salad a day then lots of fruits throughout day. I'm not dehydrating anything nor do I really eat nuts only seeds right now. I'm 6'4.5" and currently weigh 178 and I'm constantly in gym working with Personal Trainer through an App called Kickoff. I am trying to get closer to 170lb so I am working on losing some more body fat before I go to get another Dexafit Testing for BMR, V02 Max, and Body Scan. I've been weightlifting for over a year now working on building muscle and losing fat trying to work towards 10% body fat. If you prefer to offer me your Coaching services those coaches out there then let me know how you can help me via Zoom strategy call or whatever. If you're not a 80/10/10 coach then a recipe suggestion or more than one would be great. Thank you all

Interesting Derek. Do I understand that you are looking to lose fat AND gain muscle mass? What is the purpose of the muscle mass gain, please? I personally find that gaining muscle rarely serves any purpose whatever, whereas gaining strength proves super valuable every time. I rarely make dressings any longer, though I still consider myself quite talented in that regard. Instead, I just add the ingredients to whatever salad I am making, and give the whole salad a good tossing. The ingredients mix and the salad dresses itself in the process. :) Adding berries of any type always makes a salad more enjoyable. Do you eat meals or utilize more of a grazing strategy throughout the day?

I use my knife skills, and sometimes my food processor, for making salads a bit easier and quicker in the eating. Often, these finer cut presentations also open the door for creative presentations as well.
Plantain
Is it ok to have ripe plantain alongside leafy greens and a little avocado? Or is that a prohibited combination?

@Nellie Nadeau Like many things in nature, dragon fruit almost completely defies the idea of fruits falling into specific categories. Yes, dragon fruit will sit well with most other fruits. I'd eat dragon fruit with melons without any concerns.
Wondering about sleep habits
I'm happy to say my GI challenge seems to be loving psyllium husk powder. Now I'd like to learn more about sleep. I have never slept through the night and being on raw food I wake and go back to sleep several times through the night. It's anywhere from 2 times a night to every 2 hours. Sometimes I go right back to sleep but at times I'm just not sleepy and I sit and read until I think I can sleep again. Sometimes it's an hour and sometimes it can be half the night. Can others share what their sleep is like since going raw? Let me know age. I am 70 years young. I used to sleep like a rock but going raw has changed everything! Not in a bad way. I still have loads of energy during the day too.

@Janet Anspach-Rickey Healthful living is ALWAYS the answer, or else it is the prerequisite to the answer.
