Glen here, learning what to ask before promising an automation
I’m learning practical AI and sales, with more than 20 years as a contractor in my background. The conversation-before-building topic here has me thinking about what needs to be clear in that first discussion. For a practice scenario, I’d want to understand how replies are handled now, who takes over when someone needs a person, and what outcome the owner would actually find useful. What’s one detail you always clarify before showing a demo? I’m trying to learn how to keep expectations sensible while still making the possibilities easy to understand.

I always clarify what success looks like for the client and how they’ll measure it, because the best demo is one that solves a real business problem.
Sell THEN build (this holds students back more than anything else)
I’ve coached thousands of students at this point. And the ONE belief that kills more momentum than anything else? “I’ll start booking coffee dates once everything is ready.” Ready means the demo is built. The tools are set up. The systems are in place. The niche is locked in. The website looks right. And it FEELS like progress… which is exactly why it’s so dangerous. Because you can spend weeks in that mode and never talk to a single business owner… which means no feedback and no money coming in. Just… dabbling. And eventually a lot of students in dabbling mode quit… not because they failed… but because they never actually STARTED. I get why it happens. Reaching out before you feel ready is uncomfortable. Your brain wants everything polished before you put yourself out there. But our ethos has ALWAYS been “sell THEN build”. This is how all my best students who hit 10k months, 20k months even 50k+ months FASTER than anyone else did it You don’t need a finished system to have a conversation. Just start pitching! Then worry about building a demo when you’ve got a yes The key to learning is this: Get stuck in and make mistakes fast. Nothing else matters until you’ve got money coming in. ESPECIALLY if time matters to you ESPECIALLY if you’re juggling a job and kids too …and you can’t afford to burn weeks tweaking things nobody’s asked for yet. So… a bit of homework for ya this Sunday? Grab a pen right now and write down every single thing you’ve been “getting ready” before you start reaching out. Every tool, every system, every little thing you told yourself needed to be done first. Look at that list. How many of them are coffee date-generating tasks?

Such a powerful reminder that real feedback comes from real conversations, not endless preparation
Need someone to take care of the tech?
Hey gang! 👋 Are you currently faced with a daunting ocean of tech shenanigans you'd rather not have to deal with? We've all been there. And many have thrown in the towel due to this tech frustration. But you see the huge value in this system and want to stick this through no matter what, you say? My question to you is: do you have experience with sales or marketing? Cold calling, cold emailing, LinkedIn outreach, appointment setting; it's all welcome. I'm looking to connect with people who want to bring in clients while I take care of the technical side and fulfillment. I've been a software developer for 12 years and have the backend already dialed in: from lead reactivation systems and AI receptionists to rapid custom demos. Check what I do: https://www.leadawaker.com/ And https://www.leadawaker.com/reactivate So you don't need to worry about figuring out how all this crazy stuff works, or even fulfilling the work yourself. Your job can simply be getting conversations started and booking meetings. And if you're comfortable taking those meetings and closing the clients yourself, even better. If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, send me a DM. Cheers, Gabriel

pairing strong technical skills with someone who enjoys sales and outreach could be a powerful combination for scaling!
"I already use Closely / HeyReach… how is Topa different?" (CLOSING TONIGHT)
We’re closing down the Topa LinkedIn offer tomorrow - grab it here while you still can. Now… Got asked this question a few times this week. "I already use Closely / HeyReach… how is Topa different?" If your current LinkedIn automation tool is working for you and you’re consistently booking coffee dates… probably worth keeping it But if it’s not… (or results could be better) It might be because many of those tools do ONE thing. They automate the outreach. Which means you're STILL paying for Sales Nav, Apollo or something similar just to build the list… STILL paying a separate provider to pull phone numbers… And STILL stuck inside LinkedIn DMs with no way to follow up outside the platform. That's 2-3 subscriptions to do one job. Which could add up to $200+ per mo of subscriptions Topa does ALL of it in one place. 350M+ contacts with AI search built in, and it's free to browse. Automated outreach that runs daily without you touching it. Lead enrichment that pulls mobiles for about 7.5 cents a pop… where most providers charge around a dollar. (Topa covers around 70% of people… and it grabs emails + physical addresses too) And the thing that no one else does: LinkedIn Signals that track KEYWORDS and specific people's posts… so you're reaching out to the hottest, most ACTIVE leads in your niche every single day. (That's how we got the 92% reply rate) And once someone's warm… you can send them a locked gift from the SAME platform. No other LinkedIn tool I know of does lumpy mail. All of this starts at $79/mo for one LinkedIn account, or $99/mo for two. About HALF the price of most LinkedIn automation tools… and you're not stacking subscriptions on top of it. One subscription does it all. Just ONE deal could net you a 100x ROI. But after tonight… the bonuses disappear and LinkedIn Signals gets locked behind the higher tier plans. Lock it in here!! ===> Get the list, the automation, the mobiles, Signals and lumpy mail in ONE place

The biggest differentiator seems to be combining lead sourcing, enrichment, outreach, and intent signals in one platform.
Before you sell a local business more leads, ask what happens to a missed call
One question I ask every local business before talking about more leads: what happens when someone rings and nobody picks up? For most trades the honest answer is nothing. The caller tries the next name on the list. So the first thing I set up in GoHighLevel is the plainest one: missed call text back. The caller gets a text within a minute saying sorry we missed you, what do you need? The reply lands in one inbox and opens a pipeline card, so somebody owns it. No AI, nothing clever, and the owner understands it in one sentence. That matters, because it is the automation they will still be using in a year. What do you set up first for a new local client?

simple missed-call recovery can probably make a bigger impact than adding another complicated automation.
