In case you didn't see the video...
Hi beautiful community, I am writing to you from the Sacred Valley in Peru, resting deeply among mountains, rivers, and a community of kindred souls. Taurus season has a way of asking us all to slow down, find our roots, and return to ourselves. My body has been leading the way, and I am following. Over the next two weeks, I will be taking on nature’s pace; breathing with the stillness of the mountains and flowing with the current of the rivers. My response times may be slower than usual, but you are not forgotten. If anything needs urgent attention while I’m away, @Alisha Macedo is here to support you. You can reach her by emailing contact@aylanova.com and she will be happy to help. Thank you for holding this space with so much grace and care. I hope you are finding moments to slow down and let nature set the pace for you, too.

I'm a Taurus so trying to channel that this week with lots of sitting outside on the ground. Hope you're doing some good communing with Pachamama! 🌎 My Pucará Bull is wishing you much rest (he lost a horn in a tragic mantle fall and has his own traumas to unpack)
What if your body isn't failing you... it's just waiting to feel safe?
I want to introduce you to someone. In the framework I've built my work around — the 5 States of Rest — the first state is the one I see most. I call them the Rooted One. This isn't a personality type. It's a state the body moves into when it's been holding too much for too long. And know this... you might sense yourself in all five states, but most people have one that's most familiar. (I've been in a place where safety felt impossible to believe. I know what it's like to feel truly betrayed by your own body. And I also know what it feels like to come home to it again.) Let me introduce you to the Rooted One. They don't feel lazy. They feel disconnected from themselves. Sleep doesn't fully restore them. They're exhausted but wired. They keep trying to think their way out of something that actually lives in the body. Just sit with that for a moment. Your body has been working so hard to protect you. That's not failure, but your body asking to come home.

Even though I consciously don't feel in danger I agree my nervous system wants more safety in terms of unstructured time. Trying to minimize calendar clutter and fall back to minimal routines. Your writings reminded me of another online community that talks about sleep archetypes in terms of sleeping position reflecting the degree of safety your body is asking for. While sleeping on my back is best for my spine it's the most problematic for most people in terms of feeling unsafe/exposed and potential breathing problems. I wonder if there's a connection there to why the nidra directions default to shavasana?
What does "tired" actually feel like in your body?
We use the word "tired" like it's one thing. But there are so many different variations of exhaustion, and your body knows exactly which one you're in, even when your mind doesn't. When you're "tired," it usually feels like:

Reading the posts here after several months hiatus is my attempt at resting after relentless doing, so for sure wired and tired can't stop task completion. Got a cold this week to remind me to slow down. Tentatively planning to sit outside with dog today without a plan as antidote and take cues from her sniffing the breeze.

@Linda Selfe-Louis I too often have to make the choice to go to bed vs eat in the evenings. Sleep is noticeably higher quality having not eaten in the hours leading up to bed
Doing Less, Choosing More
Power doesn’t mean doing everything. It means choosing what’s worth your energy. The nervous system is regulated when you don’t rush to fix, control, or prove. You act from clarity, not urgency. Try this: Today, choose one thing you will not force. SHARE it below and we can all cheer each other on!

Amen Amy. I chose to stay home this morning and drink some tea in the morning sun even though it's one of my few remaining windows of time to gift shop. Made the right decision.
Dear Community, I need your help 🫶
I need to share something from the heart. Our Nova Nidra community has always been rooted in rest, healing, and accessibility. Over the last three-plus years, I’ve poured my heart into creating accessible practices and recently building this space, all of which I have done freely and with deep devotion. And it’s been one of the most meaningful chapters of my life. As this community grows, I’m learning to honour not just the rhythm of giving, but the rhythm of restoring. In that spirit, we’re introducing a tiered membership system. This is about sustainability and creating an ecosystem that supports not only you, but the continued future of Nova Nidra too. This way, I can continue to create what you love most: Deeply resourced Yoga Nidra sessions, born from presence, not survival. This shift will also allow me to bring in beautiful souls to support the work behind the scenes… so I can share more of what I love and feel is healing to our collective... Nidras, Offerings, and nervous system care that can ripple out into your lives. And because this is OUR community, OUR collective, your voice matters deeply in shaping what’s next! Is there anything you’d love to see in the upcoming tier system? What’s felt most meaningful or supportive to you so far? Your feedback will help ensure that what we create reflects your values and your experience, while also keeping this sanctuary sustainable… for all of us. Thank you for being part of this journey. I’m so grateful to be walking this path with you. Sending you all so much love! Ayla 🌙✨ P.S. What draws you to this space?

I enjoy the community aspect but struggle to make time to participate. The library of exercises and events tailored to the seasons have been great and I'd be happy to contribute $ on some form of lower tier to help support ongoing updates/maintenance.
