Workshopping your Artist Statement
I spent the morning rewriting my artist statement for a grant application and it was a great experience. I'm adding "Workshopping Your Artist Statement" to the roster of live monthly workshops. I'm listing the schedule in the classroom and on the calendar. I've got to run to the studio but here's what I have on mine so far... I love a word limit. @Felicia Forte perhaps ‘contrast’ was the wrong word - I meant more like both extremities of your experience, the internal, intense one - occurring simultaneously with your everyday one. Both yours, both very personal, and dovetailed in what you choose to show. It is not just an ashtray! Some people do just paint ashtrays you know. Or apples etc. That’s not what’s going on here, and the viewer knows it. I will think on it….
