Baseball Book for kids
Hi everyone 👋 I’m Esteban Avila. Right now, the idea that’s pulling at me the most is a fun, easy-to-understand baseball book for kids, not parents. I picture kids between 5 and 10 years old reading it (or being read to) and actually understanding the game instead of feeling overwhelmed by it. The main outcome I hope for is simple:that a kid finishes the book feeling confident, excited to play, and thinking, “Baseball is fun and I can do this.” I’ve spent years working with kids in baseball, and I see how powerful it is when learning feels playful instead of stressful. That’s what I want this book to be. Excited to build this and learn from everyone here. ⚾️📘

@Zack Bush this idea comes from something that happened to me when i was 12..... A Moment I’ll Never Forget I was twelve years old. It was the championship game. The Little League World Series. The stadium was packed.Twenty thousand people. Maybe more. Almost all of them were cheering for the home team. “USA! USA! USA!” We had maybe twenty people on our side. When I ran out to center field to take my position, something felt wrong. I couldn’t feel my legs. They felt heavy.Slow.Like they weren’t listening to me. I remember thinking, What’s going on?Why do I feel like this? I wasn’t injured.I wasn’t tired. I had played this game my whole life. Then I realized what it was. Nerves. The noise. The crowd. The moment. Everything felt bigger than usual. So I did the only thing I could do. I talked to myself. This is the same game.Same field.Same ball.Same position. I kept repeating it in my head. One pitch at a time. One play at a time. Slowly, my breathing changed. My legs started to feel normal again. Not all at once.Little by little. By the next inning, something had shifted. The crowd was still loud. The moment was still big. But I was back in the game. Focused.Present.Ready. That experience stayed with me. Not because we won.But because I learned something important. Pressure doesn’t mean something is wrong. It means something matters. And learning how to stay calm, even when your body feels different, is part of becoming a ballplayer.

Hi, I’m Esteban Avila. I’ve always had two ideas in mind. One is a simple, easy-to-read book for parents to help train their young kids at home, and the other is a fun, easy-to-understand book that helps kids truly learn and enjoy baseball. I’ve been coaching and working with kids for years, and this community felt like the right place to finally turn those ideas into something real.
