This TED talk about Echolocation changed how I listen to my flute
Ever since I saw this TED talk by Daniel Kish - who's blind - talk about how he uses echolocation to navigate the world I listen to my flute differently. You will notice that the echos of your flute sound different in your practice room vs your garage vs outside vs an auditorium. Now, I listen carefully and I can "see" with my ears a little bit about my surroundings. It helps me know how it's going to sound to someone sitting at the back of the auditorium too. Hope you find this interesting!

That is so cool. Thank you!
Polka Dots & Moonbeams Part 2
I learned this song earlier today with Online Jam, a new Skool group! After sharing another recording with yall, I realized I needed a backing track video I could share with you so I went and found this one. Here's my improvising with it. See how I spend half of my time playing the melody recognizably and half of the time improvising more and more with it? Reading jazz melodies can be a real challenge rhythmically. Often the way they "feel" is not expressed in the chart. Often notes written as 8th notes are played with the first one longer than the second, "swung." I had the benefit of hearing a singer give a live interpretation of this song today. But I was otherwise not familiar with it. It was fun to explore how my unique voice might take the notes on the page and make them come alive with a new personality for this song. I'd like to hear your interpretation. Will you share it in the 🌊Improv Waterfall too?

Inspiring!!
Polka Dots & Moonbeams!
Do you know this song? I learned it today with a new skool group, Online Jam! I counted 3 rough moments. An accidental overtone a cracked note. Getting tired. But I really loved studying the melody of this ballad!!

Thank you for sharing, Vic!!
It's not that easy being green!
My friend Rositsa reminded me of this sweet song when she posted it this morning in another group. I'd been thinking this would be a sweet song to improvise with! Were you a Muppets kid?

This is a whole vibe right here!
I am Looking for a Flutarians Editor Intern!
There are now nearly 50 Improv Games Replays in the playlist! Plus interviews with flute authors. And more deep in the archive to be uploaded. I am creating them faster than I can edit them! I'm looking for some help editing the long replays into short highlights to make it easier for those watching the replays to learn. I am looking for a special Flutarian or two who wants to improvise with confidence ASAP and is ready to dig into the replays! 4 hrs/wk. Maybe someone who would benefit greatly from private lessons but for whom in-person private lessons have not been possible. This would be good if you have a schedule that doesn't coordinate easily with Live group meetings. Learn the content thoroughly due to watching attentively to create shorts! Plus private lessons (and of course my encouragement in the community!)! Who might be a good fit? PS - Win private lessons here
