Blending and balancing fabric and tonality
On this brisk morning I broke out a cardigan I’ve had since my early 30s and built my outfit from there. I saw in the community an amusing discourse about cardigans and cable knits being relegated to one’s age. Absurd. Been wearing them since my 20s. These staples of Classic timeless menswear are by definition: timeless. This particular one is a Scottish lambswool I picked up from Harold’s circa late 1980 early 1990s. I added my 20 year old MTM smoky green crepe wool sports coat and 20 year old MTM charcoal grey calvary twill double pleates trousers. A CT basket weave Oxford shirt backdropped my newest plumb colored wool challis club tie with grouse. A brownish pocket square seemed to pick up the brownish background of my sweater and as I love to do this time of year, I slipped in my oxblood Lucessee ropers for both warmth and coloration. My green faced Orvis field watch seemed to work.

@Brian McGuire absolutely. It’s just that when one’s main exposure to the elements is walking between the car and buildings, it’s easy to misjudge the need for heavy layers. But then, I tend to run hot. YMMV

Travel Uniform Improvement Project
So this is my travel uniform when I fly for business. Any advice on improving this uniform while still achieving the simplicity, space-saving, and visual objectives stated below? Ex. I’m thinking of adding dark brown shirts to the mix in fall/winter for a little warmth and variety. Thank you in advance, oh Brotherhood of Style. The jacket alternates between a navy blazer, this navy sport coat, and a light grey, cotton sport coat. In warmer weather, I substitute the medium blue or black button down with a navy or black polo. Always dark wash denim pants. Pocket square rotates based on the jacket and shirt. Boots in fall/winter, loafers in spring/summer. I gravitate toward a monochrome look because 1) I’m vertically compact, and 2) dark colors hold up better while traveling. I never check a bag so this uniform allows me to deal with temperature changes en route, have the jacket ready for business casual receptions, and pack only a suit for business dinners. When I get to my destination, I’ll usually replace the dark shirt and jeans with grey trousers, a light blue/white button down m, and a tie for business casual meetings. Having a travel uniform keeps decision making to a minimum, helps me pack quickly and not forget things, and maximizes use per article.

You’ve thought it through beautifully, and the results are excellent. You look intentional and put together, which is a distinct advantage in business. I can’t get over how many people I see wearing pajamas for air travel these days. Really?

Had an appointment with the Pack Dr today, looks like we are doing some Heat Therapy (Burning/Cauterizing) of a couple of nerve fibers to have the constant pain removed for 8-18 months depending how quickly the nerves repair. Another hot day so I have grabbed another summer weight unlined suit, though this one has no Break so the need for regular length socks is a must. On my way home, stopped at a park to see how the background would work. Also played in Canva to see if I could create some stylized interest. Todays outfit consist of; M.J. Great look! Re: photo #2, one wants to be facing the sun directly so that one’s face and the outfit aren’t in shadow, and to prevent side shadows from emphasizing wrinkles. Sunglasses do the heavy lifting.

The neat part is the pocket square your wife picked out. Women know what looks good on their men.
WFH and buried peepers
A few weeks back I had what is probably my last sail of the season. I dutifully switched from my RL glasses to my Costa Del Mar sunglasses. I also dutifully failed to zip up my fleece vest and apparently Ralph got a burial at sea when I went uo to the fire deck.. An expensive burial at sea indeed. I’ve been wearing my Walgreens readers waiting on one of two replacement glasses to come in today. My arms had become quite short to hold my computer out that far to read it. WFH linen silk green v neck white shirt , wool tartan tie, Levi’s jeans and finally a new pair of glasses

Very tough ti go without glasses while one waits for the new ones. Yours look great and I’m sure it’s a tremendous relief. And you’ll never forget to zip up your jacket at sea!
