🏷️ Nimiq Names: pay a name, not an address Someone asks for your Nimiq address and you paste NQ82 YRAT NFS1 XRE6 3VU2 EKXL C7LH 8RAQ NK9F, then you both check it twice (at least). Wondering how did we solve that? Website: https://nimiqnames.com How it works: https://youtu.be/lVhPkgVjzYc (complete walkthrough) ⚡ What you can do with a name Get paid by name. People type "rico" instead of 36 characters, in NIM or in USDT on Polygon. Ask to be paid with a link. Pick an amount and a reference, share the link, and it opens their wallet already filled in. Hand out unlimited subdomains for free. Register "service" once and give every user "alice.service" or "jonas.service" from your own server, with nothing stored per user and nothing to pay. Link an EVM address to your name, so one name answers on Nimiq and on Polygon. Sell it or auction it. Fixed price sales and live bidding are built in. Message the owner of any name straight from the app. 🔐 Why it is different It is native to Nimiq. A name lives on the Nimiq chain itself, you buy it with NIM, and you manage it in Nimiq Pay or your PC (Nimiq Hub) like any other payment. ENS or Unstoppable can hold a Nimiq address in a record, but getting there means creating an EVM wallet, funding it with gas, buying the name on another chain and managing it there forever. That is a lot of work to be paid in NIM. Your key holds the name. Nobody can move it, freeze it or take it back, me included. There is no admin who can reassign your name. There are no smart contracts. A registration is one ordinary Nimiq transaction with "NNS1Grico" in its data field. Anyone can run the indexer that reads those transactions, and every honest one ends up with the same list of names. Every answer comes with a proof. Two independent resolvers answer your lookup, your wallet checks the Merkle proof itself, and if they disagree the app stops instead of showing you an address. The whole thing is open source under MIT, specification included, so you do not have to take our word for any of the above.
