10k Week 7
Hey team, Hope you are staying dry out there! We are now in the pointy end, got some sharpen workouts planned while still keeping the body fresh. This weeks question: What is important for you to focus on with your nutrition? What has worked well for you in the past?

Hey Geno - quick question about the speed session. What recovery is it between efforts? That 5min recovery you have there I assume is the cool down?

@Geno Milnes sorry I ended up doing a 2min recovering in between the 3 efforts.. otherwise the 2x 10 min efforts at 7/10 is 1x 20min? Sorry if the whole thing was meant to be 25min with no recovery until the end. I just didn’t read it that way.
What shoes are you wearing on race day?
Hey team - hope you are enjoying the long weekend! Here is the Week 6 homework: Have you decided on your race shoes? Need any suggestions or undecided what to choose?

I’ll wear my ASICS Nova Blast 5s! In a half size up after killing my toe nail at the Auckland half 🫣

@Geno Milnes no issue since up-sizing by half a size 👍🏼
10K Week 3 Homework
Hey Team, 3 weeks in - how is the training going! This week is all about celebrating the wins so far, big or small. These wins really do add up. Let me know, what have been your wins so far?

For the same reasons as my husband @Aadjan van Holst I wasn’t able to fit everything in. My win was doing my 400s around Lake Pukuke in Auckland, and also getting to parkrun yesterday. I’m looking forward to dialing it in this coming week. @Geno Milnes i really would like to get back to my weekly 10km loop (although it will be tough as I have lost a lot of fitness). Is it ok to include this during the program?

Hey @Geno Milnes for tomorrow, do we do a running warm up and cool down?
10K Week 1 Homework
Hey team, How did you find the first week of the program? It's ok if you are just getting into the swing of things - plenty of time. Post your homework and any questions / comments you have here :)

Another question Geno.. Would it be cheating to do my 5k time trial on the track tomorrow morning? I won’t be around for parkrun this weekend 😜

Introduction
Hey team, Welcome to the Strong Runner Coaching Program! Please read the START HERE post. Would be great to get to know you, let us know: 1. What is your 2026 running goal 2. Why do you run? Heres mine: 1. To run Tarawera 50k on February 14th 2. I run to take opportunities my fitness and health gives me. I run to reach new levels and limits. I run to empower others to do the same.

Hi everyone! 1. My goal for this program is to get a 55min 10km. My goal for 2026 is to try and achieve a 2 hour (or sub 2) half marathon - likely at Kerikeri 2. I run for my mental health. It sets me up for a clear headed and productive day. I also want to avoid frailty for as long as possible.. and with having just turned 40 this is at the forefront of my mind. Therefore increasing my vO2 max as much as I can and having strong bones is a massive driver for me. I also hope this will help me hugely from a hormonal point of view as I enter that next phase.
