Tell me more about your strength training
Morning everyone - I hope you've had a lovely weekend. I'm going through all your Menopause Running Reset forms, and something that has surprised me how many of you are doing regular strength training, yet not feeling the benefit with your running or seeing it in your body composition. Can you tell me more in the comments: 1) What exercises are you doing 2) How heavy are you lifting (give an overall rating of 1-5 in terms of how hard the weights feel, 1=easy, 5 is really hard - ie you can only do 6-8 reps of your exercises. I'll use this information to make sure what I am advising you on this week is relevant to where you are right now with your training. Thank you.

Not strength training at the moment.
What are your blockers?
We all have things we want to do (eat healthier, strength train, run more often, get earlier nights....) but life can easily get in the way. Something I do with my clients is get them to identify their blockers, as this is often overlooked, but once you uncover your blockers, you can then find ways to get around them. Take 5 minutes today to think about one thing you really want to do, but can't do it consistently. What are the things that are stopping you? Share your answers below.

I'm similar to a few folks here...strength training. I hate the gym, I hate exercising indoors, I am an expert at procrastination to get out of doing the work. I tried signing up for a years gym membership, thinking if I paid, I'd go. NOPE! I set time side each week to go and it was always so busy, I couldn't get on some of the machines. So I used that as an excuse not to go. Membership now cancelled but that was an expensive experiment! I am starting a new job in a few weeks that has a gym on site and it's free. I'm hoping this might work out better for me. I can go before work, at lunch or straight after. I struggle to know what to do when I'm there..again just another excuse. I know I need to figure it out.
What do you want to know about nutrition?
Tomorrow I’m going live at lunchtime to talk about nutrition. What questions do you want answering? Let me know and I’ll make sure I include them. If you can’t make the live I’ll be posting the recording after.

Hi Gabrielle, I'm loving all the info so far! Quick question..I usually train very early in morning for my weekend long run as I need to get home for kids etc. You mentioned in your video that ideally should have meal 2 hrs before running. I'm not able to eat that early, or i'll be up in middle of the night. I eat a bagel with peanut butter and banana about 45 mins prior to long run. Is that ok or can you advise anything else?
Aches & Pains - how do you handle them?
One of the most common symptoms ladies on the group have mentioned is increased aches and pains. How does this affect your training? Is there anything you have tried that helps you manage them?

Due to hamstring tendonitis, I've had to stop running completely. I've attended a physio who gave me exercises but they gave me sciatica! 🙄🤷🏼‍♀️ Ibuprofen helps but I don't want to take pills. I've not found anything else that helps yet.

Welcome to the Menopause Running Club! I'm looking forwards to helping you get back to enjoying running and feeling like yourself again To learn how to get clarity, a plan and the motivation to become a stronger, leaner runner in the next 2 weeks watch this short video here. Then, go and introduce yourself to the group - tell us a little bit about your running history, how menopause has affected you, and the main thing you want to get out of this next 2 weeks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvmoukf4gDc

Hi everyone, apologies for the late arrival! I've been running for around 14 years and last year I took part in 2 ultras. I've been on HRT since age 30 for premature ovarian failure but only became symptomatic of menopause aged 40 (9 years ago). I'm struggling with hamstring tendonitis which physio has advised is partly menopause related. I struggle with motivation to strength train but realise as I get older, I need to prioritise it more. I'm looking forward to learning more in this group.
