Focal seizures?
A focal seizure is a seizure that starts in one specific area of the brain, rather than involving the entire brain from the beginning. Because it begins in a localized region, the symptoms depend on which part of the brain is affected. A focal seizure may involve motor symptoms (jerking of one limb or one side of the face), sensory changes (tingling, visual disturbances), autonomic symptoms (sweating, nausea), or behavioral changes. Focal seizures are classified by awareness: - Focal aware seizure (formerly simple partial): the patient remains conscious and aware. - Focal impaired awareness seizure (formerly complex partial): the patient has altered awareness and may perform repetitive, purposeless movements.
