"Would You Date Your Inner Voice?"
Oh.My.Word. I just finished talking to a friend of mine that I haven't seen in months. The negative thoughts she was expressing about herself were...overwhelming. I tried redirecting and trying to get her to re-examine what she was saying objectively without much luck. Suddenly, out of my mouth, I snapped, "Would you date your inner voice?" (I still can't believe that was the phrase that came out of my mouth. I usually try to be more...diplomatic, at least????) That stopped her and got her attention. I told her how destructive her "talk track" was about herself and told her she really needs to recalibrate her negative thoughts. I even gave her a weekend assignment. I told her that she needs to ask 10 people who she knows and admires this Labor Day weekend what it is they value and respect about her and the person's name down and what they said. I told her that I wanted her to share it with me on Monday when I see her. I'm thinking that I can have her use that as a first step to her read that daily kind of as an affirmation of sort to start to retrain that "talk track." If she does that, what would be something else you would suggest as a next step?

@James A. Dunn OMG this is the BEST advice! I will definitely start implementing this in my coaching practice but also in my personal life. I feel like it takes the pressure off yourself because a lot of the times, stress comes from being overwhelmed by a situation. So if we can take a few moments to get to the core of our problem and think what we really want, it gives us direction because we know where we stand. Keep up the good work!

@Donna Spangler You actually are so AMAZING! This was the best idea for her! I think if she can write them down as affirmations and stick them on her mirror or something so she sees them everyday will also be helpful. I think maybe the next task could be to ask her what about herself she truly doesn’t like and wants to change. But make sure to ask her why she doesn’t like that part of herself so it can illuminate the underlying belief there. And if she truly believes it is something worthwhile to change, then give her a task that would help her get closer to that goal. So in simpler terms, if she is unhappy with herself, use the things she wants to change about herself as a guide to help her set goals for herself. Try it out and let me know how it goes. I hope this was helpful! Keep up the good work!
🤩Make your goals EASY for yourself🤩
🍒So many times I have set goals for myself and they don’t get done because I haven’t broken them down step by step into bite-size pieces. 🍉This can also be because we set goals that are wayyyyyy too generic that it can be too overwhelming to start. Some examples of this include “having a fit body” or “becoming financially free.” 🍊See how general those are? Like, where do you even begin!? 🥑So chunk down and make your goals easy and achieve able for yourself. You don’t have to radically change your life and habits overnight. Just change one small thing in your day that actually fits in with your day. For example, if one of your goals is to consume 30g of protein a day, think about how you can add it into your already established routine. If you have a smoothie every morning for breakfast, add is some protein powder. 🥭Or if your goal is to be more active, make it easy for yourself by fitting it into your day as it is. Take the stairs at work or stand up at your desk instead. 🍅Small modifications go a long way over time as they compound. ⭐️You’ve got this guys!

EC Introduction
Hey everyone, after hiring a personal coach this year to better myself in my career, he completely changed everything I thought about coaching and my career as a whole. I'm the Sales Director for one of the largest cannabis companies in the US but always felt there was something more I could offer the world. Through my experience with my coach, and despite having a successful career, I've realized it's about WE, not ME. I am now in the process of becoming a health/optimization coach and couldn't be more excited to help others and provide the world with VALUE. I'm fortunate to have stumbled upon the EC community and I look forward to learning from everyone and hope to provide as much value as I can to others as well. Much love everyone and looking forward to growing together. 😁
