@Danielle Drew I was there for one of her last ones and she was on fire
The best connections are often the ones you did not plan.
Today I went along to Glasgow Expo organised by Hashtag Events, mainly to hear @Sam Rathling speak and finally meet her in person. I first met Sam through her Skool community, Social Selling on LinkedIn with Sam, and since then I have learned so much from her about LinkedIn, visibility, and building meaningful professional connections online. Hearing her speak today reminded me why she is known by many as the LinkedIn Queen. She has a way of making LinkedIn feel far less intimidating and much more human. But what struck me most about today was not just the talk. It was the people. I did not have as much time as I would have liked, but even in a short visit, conversations started to open up. A chance meeting with somone that led to shared interests, ideas, and another connection I would never have expected. That is what I value about events like this. You may arrive with one reason for going, but if you stay open, other conversations begin. You meet people you were not looking for. You hear perspectives you did not expect. And sometimes the most useful part of the day is the conversation that was never in the diary. Lovely to see @Sam Rathling, @Gavin Belton-Rose, @Andrew Charlton Thank you to Hashtag Events for creating the space for these conversations to happen.

I do have another meeting online but planning to get my laptop and do part of the meeting from there. Particularly looking forward to the lovely talented @Sam Rathling
A wee favour
Stepping out of my comfort zone here. I am a finalist for Female Founder Awards Scotland in the Real Estate category and the last bit for deciding the winner is a public vote. Although a lot of you don't know me (yet) my small housing development is what's known as a 'disruptive' and purchaser de -risked, custom build model. I have got the planning, access and services sorted for a master planned community of 19 plots called Strawberry Grange in the suburbs of Aberdeen. Purchasers then have the architect to help them design their bespoke home, within a design code and the contractor builds it for them so they are not trying to manage everything themselves. This model allows for great LBTT and VAT savings as well. If you feel this is a good way to build a new home I'd be really grateful for your vote. The link to vote is www.femalefounderawards.co.uk/scotland Scroll to the industry section and down to the "Real Estate" category. 10 names will appear. Click on "Julie Nairn - Strawberry Grange" and press the vote button. There is no sign up or email address required. Voting closes on 25th May. Many thanks for your help.

So who watched Eurovision? I may be controversial with this opinion, but I doubt it. It was dross. What is the world coming to, we even gave the French "Douze points". There is a moral to this, so bear with me. The UK's song was abysmal. The lyrics right out of the Teletubbies, the singing was bleak, the permance was shocking. Who thought this was a good idea. To cap it all, singing in f*ing German!!! Anyway, the message from me is to surround yourself with good people. Nobody obviously thought, "that song is utter crap, don't give it to a singer", or "he is utter crap, for goodness sake don't film or record it", or "Yeah thats a great idea, represent the UK" and dozens of steps in between. Make sure you have people other than your Mum to tell you how good or bad an idea is, colleagues or confidantes who know you well enough to be honest and enough about you to spot a winner or a total turkey. Null points form me but 1 from Ukraine. I think that was a thank you for armaments and money but maybe they loved it or am I too cynical. Post your descriptions in below and what you need help with, anything, and let the network be your finest friends. Be like Bucks Fizz and make your mind up. Allez!

Every year I feel bad for watching, and come next year, I'll know i will watch it again. There is not a lot of events where i get to support my beloved country, so even though I know that the odd and tele-voting are never in our favour, I will keep watching. I read the last question by @Andrew Charlton and thought I would answer as open and honestly. I know it is not always easy to refer someone to a person you do not really know. I feel the same. Before I recommend anyone, especially to someone I care about, I ask myself a simple question: Would I be happy sending my family to them? That question matters to me. So rather than just saying, “please refer people to me,” I would rather say this. If you would like to understand what I do, how I work, and whether I am someone you could trust with people you care about, then please get in touch. I genuinely enjoy meeting people, hearing their stories, and learning what they are trying to build too. One thing I have realised recently is that people sometimes hear about my background and assume I probably have everything figured out. Being a doctor for kids in intensive care, being involved in different roles, and serving as Honorary Consul for Malta can give the impression that I do not really need help. But the truth is much simpler than that. I am also building a business. I am learning, growing, reflecting, and seeking the right people who understand what I am trying to create and value my service. My travel business is built around care, trust, and personal support. I want people to feel that their holiday is being looked after with the same care as if it were my own. That has always been the heart of it. So what do I need help with? I would love to meet people who believe that travel is more than a transaction. People who value having someone in their corner. People who spend time caring for others and feel that it's now their time to be cared for. These tend to be busy professionals, with families, retirees, and cruise clients who would appreciate a personal travel guy rather than just another booking website. To make it easier to keep me in mind, remember me as Edgar the Maltese children’s doctor who brings care into the world of travel; by helping people plan time away to rest, reconnect and return with more strength.

@Andrew Charlton absolutely. Some of my loveliest memories in life have been away with family. Memories that I will always cherish
