What Is a Mentor, Really?
Hey everyone in Entrepreneurs & Mentors! Ever wondered exactly what makes someone a true mentor? Let's break it down. Core Definition A mentor is an experienced individual who guides, advises, and supports someone less experienced, often called a mentee, in their personal or professional growth. They share wisdom from their own journey, acting as a trusted sounding board rather than a boss or teacher. Key Roles Mentors offer practical help like business plan reviews, networking introductions, or business strategy advice. They provide emotional support, accountability, and fresh perspectives to challenge your assumptions and boost confidence. Types of Mentors - Business mentors focus on entrepreneurship, business decisions, and skill building. - Peer mentors share similar stages for mutual growth. - Life mentors tackle broader personal development. Why It Matters for Us In entrepreneurship, a mentor can accelerate your startup success by spotting pitfalls early and opening doors. Both sides win because mentees grow and mentors sharpen their leadership. Who is your mentor, or who are you mentoring?

@Hector Febres That sounds like an awesome opportunity. Mentoring another Skool owner and helping refine their community is a big step and I am sure your insights will make a real impact. I am excited to hear how it goes. If he's ok with it, would be great if you shared your takeaways on Saturday at the IRL.
Unbelievable...
You guys I'm finding it hard to find the words to type, I'm shocked in the best way possible. After praying I had a fit of inspiration to build a new community based on a unmet market demand. Like lightning I stopped thinking about what I want or even what I'm passionate about and instead decided to look for what I thought Skool/Skoolers needed. I'm not ready to talk about it here yet as even with it still being framed out already I'm getting member requests! That's the part I do want to talk about here. The fact that this community isn't even fully built and I'm already getting member requests, referrals, and offers to collaborate tells me I struck a nerve. None of that would have happened if I stuck with just what makes me happy or what I'm passionate. I put the needs of others above my own and decided to fill a need I saw rather than one that would strictly serve me. Now I have unbelievable momentum and it's not even finished! So what is an unmet market demand you see? Where are people experiencing pain or problems that you could solve or at least alleviate? Let this be your encouragement, just do it! All you've ever wanted is on the other side of helping others get everything they want! P.S. I'm not saying I have 0 passion for the new topic of the community but it's an overlooked skillset that honestly didn't occur to me. This revelation didn't come until halfway through the build!

That’s amazing! @Hector Febres You clearly found that sweet spot where serving others meets real demand. It’s inspiring how momentum builds when you focus on what people need instead of just your own passions. Excited to see how your community grows and what comes next!
Hitting a wall/brain block? What's holding you back may surprise you.
I've been hitting a wall lately with refining the re-launch of this community. Part of it may be analysis paralysis, but it just dawned on me that part of it may be all the other work that I've postponed as I've been pre-occupied with Skool. I got quite behind on grading and lesson planning for my IRL (in real life) classes, I need to get my summer interns lined up and inventory order put together for the shop, @Audrey Febres and I have our fifth child on the way due in May and need to make sure that we're as prepared as possible, and even though we'll likely get a nice tax refund I've been putting it off because doing our taxes has never been a fun process for me. So, it's possible, dare I say probable, that my brain fog/block has to do with all the other work I've been avoiding. So, if I'm a little less active this week as I play catch-up just know that I am working to get clear so I can be more present when I am here. Bonus: As I write I'm also realizing I haven't given myself anything to look forward to when getting things done. At least for me having some sort of treat to look forward to really helps when motivation is low. Do you have any little or big treats you use to stay motivated?

@Hector Febres that's my next 7 day health challenge, shutting down devices by 9pm to get better sleep - and it's almost midnight now!🤪

@Hector Febres no, it went till about 11pm. Had couple other things I had to get down before this morning.🤪
Are you playing around or intentionally leveraging AI?
After a personal conviction I’ve been off AI (except for those I can’t get around) for a few months. Well I recently had a chance to sit with a PhD in Data Science an expert in large language models and AI. I was able to see more clearly how I was mishandling AI previously. With a newfound understanding of how to engage with these systems I will dip my toes back into using them. I put the instructions Dan Martell suggested in this video and it totally changed my interaction. It went from fluffy and affirming to ruthless and demanding. However uncomfortable it was, I had to face some hard truths and was forced to see the gaps in my ideas and planning. So, if you are using AI to help you in your business planning and execution I hope this set of backend system instructions may help you.

Great tip here in the video. "YES man" is real, more so in chatgpt than some of the others I found. There is somewhat of a dopamine hit engineered into the system to trigger human dopamine responses to make you feel good about using them, it's suppose to help with engagement and retention overall on the platform.
Fundamentals
Maybe it’s because I just started intermittent fasting and I’m hangry but I’ve been frustrated this morning. There’s a post in Skoolers from a new owner asking for advice and I noticed that in large part the advice was unhelpful. “Keep at it” “Play the long game” “Stay engaged” “Be human” In itself this advice isn’t bad but it’s just not practical. The asker is wondering what they need to do. I was shocked no one was talking about the fundamentals. What problem or pain do you solve? Why is it a problem? How big is that market? Where does that market spend its time? Who is your ideal customer? How do you solve it? What’s that journey like? How do your clients/members work with you? If you’re unclear in these things you won’t attract or keep customers/members.

@Hector Febres You’re spot on about the need for practical fundamentals. Those “keep going” type replies can be well‑intentioned, but without clarity on what to focus on, they don’t move the needle. I really like the list of questions you shared, it’s basically the diagnostic every community builder or business owner should revisit regularly. I’d even add one more: “What result do your members actually experience when they succeed through your community?” Sometimes reframing everything around the transformation instead of the offer helps clarify both your message and your marketing. I’m curious, when you’ve revisited these fundamentals in your own journey, which one has made the biggest difference in your traction or clarity?
