Starting Youtube
I'm an Indonesian university student who's graduating soon. I'm trying out youtube as a hobby, and I'm starting to enjoy it. I joined this community because I want to learn how to grow my small youtube channel. My channel is https://www.youtube.com/@dzakyads (currently all of my video are in Indonesian). I have just reached the 4.000 viewing hours that youtube set for monetization, but is still struggling to gain subscribers (currently on 181). I hope that I can learn from all of you guys :)

@Steven Forstner Wow, thank you for sharing your experience. In my case, although my goal is to get monetized on youtube, I don’t rely on it for my studies because my parents still cover my college expenses. I started doing youtube because I enjoy sharing my experiences, and maybe it can be a reliable form of income after I finish my studies.
My first 10k+ views long form video
One of my videos just hit 10k+ views very recently. It feels great to see people enjoying my video, but at the same time, I feel anxious as well because my sub count is still not gaining traction. This is the video I'm referring to:

@Eric Kootte Currently all of my contents are about the experience of owning an EV in Indonesia (road trips, etc.), and not all Indonesians can speak English very well, that’s why I use Indonesian Language. But, I’m planning on expanding my content types and making some in English so that I can cater to a broader demography in the near future.
Breaking records
Over the last 28 days, my YouTube channel reached 74,113 views, far above the usual performance. 72.913 more views. One single video alone generated more than 25,000 views, becoming the clear growth driver. In total, the channel achieved 155 hours of watch time, showing strong audience retention. Now I have to produce Long-form Videos to get more watch-time. This performance also resulted in 31 new subscribers, a growth of +288% compared to the previous period. Especially in the last 48 hours, momentum accelerated with over 29,000 views. The data shows that emotional and relevant topics resonate most with viewers. YouTube’s algorithm has started testing the content with a broader audience. The focus now is consistency and building on what already works.
