Welcome to Drea Hickman
Please welcome Drea, Her profile says: "Actively working to reduce our emissions, keeps us from recklessly creating them. Join Climate Action For Carbon Addicts & stop trashing the planet." I have been reading about permaculture in the excellent group Climate Resilient Permaculture, where I see you are a member as well. There, @Jayme Domejka is teaching all aspects of creating a food system that provides endless nutrition whilst enhancing the environment. Her new course on the origins of permaculture is fascinating. It is clear that we need climate-conscious people in all areas of life, and this network is still building. I sometimes feel that all of this is going too slow - but the more I read, the more I see that the tendrils of renewal are all around us. The pace of change is increasing. I am feeling more optimistic. Thanks for joining us here.

💙💙💙💙 Power is in numbers, but when numbers speak up and lead, they become exponential. Happy to do my part!
Reality check….
Setting our intentions toward emissions reduction efforts each and every day is the new normal. This is a mindset that isn’t optional anymore. Join the sustainable revolution. I’m constantly thinking of my impact on future generations so it is my essential self-control hack. Fossil fuel dependence is a disgusting, selfish habit, but the good news is we can totally kick it! Get the information and education right here in the classroom. We are the most adaptable species on the planet, built for change, and everybody has skin in this game, so nobody gets to just watch. Do something intentional for your planet today and share it! Every action matters!

Hello Climate Action Heroes!
I hope this group expands and new members will feel comfortable and safe contributing in here! I joined a while back and was inspired by the classroom content. If you haven’t checked out Richard’s climate research yet, get in there and grab all the free value he’s giving. Please comment, like, and share this message. We need every voice for climate with momentum like a firehouse. Turn it up, don’t be shy!

One percenters are killing us here!
I had a conversation with an 8 figure earner today. My goal was to present my plan for an on-line coaching course for high net worth individuals to audit their lifestyles and help them make adjustments that lower their carbon footprints. This is essential, because the top 1% produce the same amount of emissions as the bottom 2/3 of the world. That’s about 75 million to 3 billion, so, obviously, I’m going after that 1%. Here’s how he responded, ‘I don’t really get it, I mean I don’t know anybody who’d really be interested in that. We’re just too busy, we don’t have time. We give so much, like to charity, tons! That’s what non-profits are for, so it’s how we all do, we give toys and money, at Christmas especially, because you know, our time is so valuable…’ Huh? Seriously, those were his words. I said toys for tots can’t erase your emissions! Nobody can! We have to stop making them! Then he changed the subject. We need people with influence to understand the reality of our situation. It has to hurt them enough to cause a crisis of belief and shift their paradigm. I will try again, he’s my mentor, but he’s clueless on climate….so I’m seeking perspective on how I can approach him, and the rest of his obscenely wealthy set, more effectively. Is it even possible to reach somebody who collects Lamborghini’s and Rolex’s? I don’t think we can do this without them.

Campaigns Officer for East Hampshire
I have just put my nomination form in to become the campaigns officer for the Green Party of East Hampshire. Why? - To support the party - To learn a new role - To improve my motivational speeches - To help the candidates - it can be a lonely journey - To practice what I preach The next elections are scheduled for May this year.

I’m taking an online class that coaches people who want to run for office. It’s in the US, but I’m sure they will have some universal tips. You’re invited, but of course I will bring you all the good info out of it to help you with your campaign, too! I’m sure social media presence will be a big part of it. I hope you win! We need more Climate candidates everywhere!!

We don’t have a choice but to press upward. It’s a grass roots curse. We either get massive numbers or we put massive pressure on the people who do have the numbers. We cannot reach everyone as fast as we can reach influencers. I’ve been focusing on getting the ones who already have a following to adopt sustainable lifestyles. If we can get them to change even one thing, and talk about it, those who listen to them will follow. You are doing a great thing by getting into leadership, whether it’s political office, or social media influencer, bringing in the people with the numbers multiplies your efforts. It’s hard to accept that we are the most adaptable species on the planet, yet we find it so difficult to change even when it’s in our best interest to do so! But, this is the reality we face. We are spoiled, comfortable, and habits of convenience are the hardest to break. The motivation has to come entirely from conscience, and our conscience has to be trained. This is why influence is our greatest hope. My course I’m starting on the third is for people who want to run for office on climate. I know I will get some inspiration there. Tell me how to find you on social media.

The measure of our behavior must be: Is this in the best interest of future generations? They deserve our sustainable legacy not a dying planet.
