This is not a political group - but to make change happen....
There is so much more to add to this group but there is also a need to take action in the real world. The reports I read while creating the courses for this group make it clear that we need to act quickly to mitigate what is coming our way. Everything is happening faster than the scientists expected. Reading this material can make you feel as though we are in the Twilight Zone. But is what I am reading the product of being within an echo chamber?- i.e. I am seeing things that are brought to my attention because I am going down a specific path of exploration. Yes, for sure. But I do look at what the opponents to the "Climate Crisis" movement say. I also look at the articles shared with me by those who accept climate change is real, but not really that bad. So I get to see articles from many angles and see which ones hold up. I have great plans to review all of this and share what I find - what is true and what is not... as far as I can make out. However, the people who carry the most weight with me have detailed evidence and can articulate the issue at several layers. Climate deniers typically have a single layer and then rely on the "trust me" line. So I felt the need to participate in the political realm, and as a result, over the last three weeks, I have been preparing to become the Campaigns Officer for the Green Party of East Hampshire, UK. I have now been voted into the post. The purpose of this group was always to help me become a better campaigner and politician, and present the data on what I had done and what others might do to take action that will affect our futures. So my goals are being acted on, and now that this has been accomplished, I plan to update the course to include the issues that have emerged, the complexities of running a community/volunteer-based group, and the results we have achieved. We have five elections over the next three years. Town Councils, County Councils, Unitary Councils, Mayor's election and Member of Parliament to the UK Government.

One percenters are killing us here!
I had a conversation with an 8 figure earner today. My goal was to present my plan for an on-line coaching course for high net worth individuals to audit their lifestyles and help them make adjustments that lower their carbon footprints. This is essential, because the top 1% produce the same amount of emissions as the bottom 2/3 of the world. That’s about 75 million to 3 billion, so, obviously, I’m going after that 1%. Here’s how he responded, ‘I don’t really get it, I mean I don’t know anybody who’d really be interested in that. We’re just too busy, we don’t have time. We give so much, like to charity, tons! That’s what non-profits are for, so it’s how we all do, we give toys and money, at Christmas especially, because you know, our time is so valuable…’ Huh? Seriously, those were his words. I said toys for tots can’t erase your emissions! Nobody can! We have to stop making them! Then he changed the subject. We need people with influence to understand the reality of our situation. It has to hurt them enough to cause a crisis of belief and shift their paradigm. I will try again, he’s my mentor, but he’s clueless on climate….so I’m seeking perspective on how I can approach him, and the rest of his obscenely wealthy set, more effectively. Is it even possible to reach somebody who collects Lamborghini’s and Rolex’s? I don’t think we can do this without them.

I wonder if he would be willing to watch this playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjW60s2IT0sTAN_KgWQL3f0ChtSdLkH2n&si=znonup0WASFgfLrj It is the UK but it applies everywhere.

The ultra-wealthy are all about risk. If he will not watch the playlist, maybe he will read this - again a UK-based assessment but with a global reach. It is a quicker read.
Climate Eductation in schools
The Climate Majority Project has created a video about the complexity of educating children about the crisis. It is hard-hitting and shows how this subject is both depressing and demoralising, yet so very essential. Children want to understand what is happening, how we got here, and why we are doing what we are doing about it. The more people know, the more willing they are to take action, either by voicing their concerns, pressuring (empowering) politicians to act, putting themselves forward for leadership roles, or building businesses that address the issues we face. We need more information so we know what is going on. We need more people taking leadership positions. That is what this group is about - The path thorugh Education to leadership.

@Ruben Plasmeijer - Agency - knowing that the things they talk about can actually be converted into actual results. If you see the joy of a child who cooks something or plants something and sees the results. They triggered something that produced a result. Learning data without agency - or worse, being given data about doom but then effectively being told that the most they can do is not buy something or recycle... is disempowering. Once they have done this small thing ... then what? Especially if they then read that their leaders have approved a new coal mine or imprisoned a person for campaigning for their future. We need better options. What if we did what the scientists said we should do? What if we asked questions that made politicians change policies? What could be better than what we are imagining?

@Ruben Plasmeijer I attended a webinar on this and captured about forty URLs - I am now slowly going through them and will share the best ones here.
🟢 New Module Now Live: The Climate Emergency Switch
I’ve just released a new module in the classroom: The Climate Emergency Switch This module explores a question many of us keep circling: If governments can move at lightning speed for war or a pandemic…why does climate action still move so slowly? Inside this module, we look at: - why democratic systems are designed to delay - how governments override that delay in real emergencies - what the pandemic revealed about fast political action - the six triggers that flip a system into emergency mode - and what would need to change for climate to be treated with the same urgency - This isn’t about panic or blame. It’s about understanding how power actually moves — so we stop shouting at the wrong parts of the system and start applying pressure where it matters. 📘 The Climate Emergency Switch is now live in the Classroom. Take it at your own pace. It’s designed to bring clarity, not overwhelm. As always, I’d love to hear: - what surprised you - what challenged your assumptions - or where this connects with what you’re seeing in the real world - This module is about recognising that speed is possible —and learning how systems decide when to use it.

I have just put my nomination form in to become the campaigns officer for the Green Party of East Hampshire. Why? - To support the party - To learn a new role - To improve my motivational speeches - To help the candidates - it can be a lonely journey - To practice what I preach The next elections are scheduled for May this year.

@Drea Hickman We have a great comms guy and I have jsut been handed a 500 page manual on what has worked for other Green Party groups. I would lvoe to say that what works is policy and planning great things to save the planet - but it is mosly about : - Are you like me? - Do you care about local issues? - Can you help me solve my personal issues? (My fence, dog mess on the sidewalk, neighbour issues etc.) But - from what I read - building from the base - gets the mid level leaders adn the mid level leaders get the county/state leaders and they get the government repsresentatives and they create a leader who might do some good. Arggggghhhhhhh! We do not have time!! But this is what we do. - And also I keep going with Has2BGreen for those with interest on the underlying issues. The ones that are going to make fences redundant.
