LOCK LEFT feedback
Alright Coaches, 1st year Lock Left team- been installing for about 2 weeks. Played at a summer playday (2 games) against quality competition yesterday- won both with a Junior heavy team (lost 7 seniors last year). For those who have been doing LL a while a couple of questions: 1. How long before the training to close off and make the ball go to the floor really kicks in? We are hesitating and are given up some open 7's on the catch. I am not expecting perfect as we are learning a different concept of defense then they have been taught probably their whole lives. 2. What actions hurt the LL the most- we had a struggle with the pass left and cut/screen right away from the ball (we just switched it since it is off the ball). The adjustment was solid and it didn't bother us too much in the 2nd half. Anyone have an action that hurts you?

Adjustment to Race & Space vs zone
Alright fellow coaches, we have been Race and Space vs zones for a while now. We often hit our Rabbit on the porch and then the Bolt cuts through. Last night, the team we played decided to double the Rabbit when when we threw it to the porch. We adjusted to it by having the Bolt slide to the corner for a quick shot or by throwing it quickly back out to the player occupying the attack position. The defense countered by taking the ball side top defender and denying the attack slot player back. It slowed us down but didn't stop us. Anyone had anything similar happen to them? What did you do to counter it?
Effective Offense vs a 2-1-2 Zone
Good day everyone - I have noticed a trend over the last 4 years in our Region and Association an increase in the number of teams that play a 2-1-2 Zone. In our region teams only play it against us. Amongst each other they will play Man, a 2-3, and a 1-2-2. We have been able to find ways to get quality 7's, however I am inquiring to see if there are other ways to attack and create more opportunities for 9's?

Race and Space concept of Flank and Burn works great vs 2-3 or 2-1-2 zone. Key is getting the offensive player with the ball to engage 2 defenders. Flank and Burn and having the Rabbit come screen the nearest guard on the ball and the ball handler using the screen usually creates a 2 v 1 opportunity.
Offense vs. a “Box & 1”
Do you all run anything special against a “Box & 1”? Or do you just continue to run the same triggers as you do against man? Our last two district opponents are going to go to it against our best guard.

We are about to see a team that does a lot of Diamond and 1 junk defense vs really good guards. We run Flank and Burn vs the Diamond portion and let our Racker (who is getting the M2M/no leave defender) pass the ball across to the Dragon or opposite attack slot. When the Dragon with the ball passes to the lifting Bolt, he then screens across for the Racker/player getting played M2M. Note: we Laker cut the Bolt through the zone after we enter the ball to the porch to our Rabbit. The Racker (who got a screen and should now have some space) fills that Bolt's spot. I hope that makes some sense. We have toyed around with putting the player who is getting M2M treatment at the Rabbit spot just because it keeps him moving all the time. We will see tonight as it will be the first time to try this concept out. Hope it made a little sense
LL Zone Game film
I've seen a few folks asking what kind of zones you can run LL in. We run Point zone with lock left principles. If anyone is interested here is our latest game where we were in Point zone 90% of it with full court lock left. We started running point zone midway through the first quarter. We also ran "twins" in the second half quite a bit and got a few steals. Would love to talk with anyone about different lock left zones!
