Singer Question: Support vs Tension
🎶 One thing many singers misunderstand about support One thing I see in many singers: they try to create “support” by becoming too rigid. Especially when working on breath support or rib expansion, many singers start holding, bracing or pushing too much. But very often, good support feels more like dynamic balance than muscular force. The body stays alive. Responsive. Flexible. Not locked. I’m curious: Have you ever struggled with too much tension while trying to “support” the voice? 🙂

My muscle memory is tied to a door in my mind when that door opens. I just leave it open and I don’t think about any of my mechanics. I allow them to enter an exit through that door, but when I start to think about it, I shut that door and that’s when I run into trouble. I just sing, and my true spirit of vocal education does the work for me

Thanks for asking, and thanks for listening, and thank you for recognizing, I would sing to an audience of two even one if they didn’t feel uncomfortable
