🐴 GET GOOD HORSEMANSHIP TIP 5.
✨ Horses don’t need lots of sleep like us but they do need to lie down. Most horses only sleep around 3-5 hours in a 24-hour period, much of it standing up. But REM sleep, the deep, restorative kind can only happen when a horse lies down.💤 If a horse isn’t lying down at least once every 24 hours, something isn’t right. Environment, safety, pain, stress, herd dynamics, or physical discomfort can all prevent it. Lack of REM sleep doesn’t just affect rest, it impacts learning, emotional regulation, soundness, and overall wellbeing. In extreme cases, sleep deprivation can even cause collapse. I witnessed this once in a horse that was standing in cross ties, it was a mess and if I can be honest, preventable! Therefore seeing or knowing your horse lies down regularly is one of the clearest signs they feel safe enough to truly rest. Some questions, you don't have to answer all, is just for fun: 1. What signs do you look for to know your horse is getting enough quality rest? 2. Before today, did you know horses need to lie down for REM sleep? 3. Do you know what signs to look for with sleep deprivation? 4. Are there any factors in your horse’s environment which might affect whether they feel safe enough to lie down? For example here in certain parts of the Netherlands we now have a Wolf epidemic - quite the prooblem as you can imagine. Love to hear your thoughts, Zoë 🐴✨🫶

Little one lies on the same area outside so I can see.... percy I think watches over little one more but his knees give it away... muddy lol 😂 so I know he does. They are both out 24/7 but other people close by send me photos of them BOTH lying together💙🩵

🤩 New saddle is a go…
✨ Funny video of Lenny today after he realized for the first time he can see me on his back! Seen himself before but today was extra cute… I mentioned in the week 3 weekly wins I got a new saddle and today was the first day I rode in it! Will share with you its only the 4th time I rode him or any horse in the last 4 months.😅 Can update you why if you’re interested? Be prepared for a higher/self power story and not and taking no as an answer! Love my Len, such a darling character 🥰 🫶✨🐴

That made me cry Zoë what an inspiration you are!! I guess us older women all have a story to share and reading through the replies now, I can see 🩶 Your strength and positivity has made you create your own pathway of riding or not.... I was re learning myself in 2012 with my boys to ride English and Western ( more western) when my body suddenly stopped working!! After 3 years of bloods/tests I was diagnosed with PBC- rare liver disease that women get😧 sadly no cure. It comes with rhumatoid arthritis and my bones are becoming deformed/painful so can not ride anymore 😟. I sometimes try to get on percy coblet but I get stuck... he is so kind tho and lets me just slide off him 😂 bless him!! I turned my pain into positivity, groundwork and liberty and started my equine reiki ranch offering reiki to horses to help true connection🩶 Us all finding each other this way is true universal alignment where we can all share safely, learn and grow together. As reiki principles say... "just for today do not worry" we are all here to support each other. I am blessed to be connected to you all!! 🫶🫶🫶
Preparing for the dentist!!
I guess my other anxiety as I do not ride anymore...is managing the dentist! I think I get so anxious ( do not know why) before they come. Both mine are sedated. Little one has not had a bit in yet too so dentist struggles to open his mouth. So... I will be planning for spring dental visit, to improve on this! Work on my anxiety levels, work on little one opening mouth and creating a pleasant environment prior...Does anyone else get anxious over the dentist???? Any helpful advice/ideas gladly appreciated ☺️✅🤠

@Abby Bennett Love that!!! Yes, I often sit and think how much we humanise their natural world. What horses do in the wild... no farrier, no dentist🥹 I will look around local dentists to see if there is one like yours? I am in Derbyshire. Use Scarsdale vet usually but again, the horses suddenly associate the vets with their jabs/teeth or other so always trying to create a positive experience for them is priority. I do reiki on mine a lot and everyone has always said how chilled they are, but I think thats my overall persona too... I try always to remain calm, collected and connected with them, even though sometimes I may be inside panicking lol!!! 😂☺️💛
Hello Everyone 💜
Hello all! I'm Crystal in northern NH, USA. I am a social media manager for an TERRA Equine Therapy Center almost 2 years. I do not own any horses. I am growing and learning through the herd of 14 at TERRA. 🐴 I am a beginner with horses and have not even ridden. I have a huge fear block around getting on bc I fell hard the first time I tried. I am an animal communictor and am learning so much about the horses and myself. 🐴 i came across this class from her Coë instaq account. I love the posts! 🐴 I am currently, always, working on my connection with these Beings. I am here to learn more about them so I can understand them better.

Love your profile Crystal... we are very aligned. I never ride much when I got back into horses... manage my groundwork and liberty as my priority now alongside equine reiki so I am sure we will both learn more connection from the ground with Zoë. Looking forward to learning with you 🤠🐴❣️❣️❣️
