Hey everyone, Derek here. Canadian living out in Idaho. I'm a superintendent currently doing concrete tilt-ups and have been in construction 30+ years. For about the last 10 years I've been building my own software for superintendents to handle drawings, schedules and budgets, because nothing out there fit how we actually run jobs. With AI it's moving a lot faster now. Here to learn how other guys run their projects and help where I can.

@Tim Fairley looking forward to you testing it and let me know how it does on your benchmark test!!
Whats your Tech Stack?
Curious what everyone’s running. Here’s mine: • JobTread — PM, estimating, budgets, and the file system: plans, drawings, receipts, job docs all live here • QuickBooks — accounting • Notion — business brain / SOPs + cost history • Airtable — Contractor OS data layer • Claude / ChatGPT — the glue. Skills + MCP connectors so I’m not re-entering the same data three times Google Drive is still in there, but honestly it’s redundant — it only exists as a staging spot until I get receipt capture running properly through the agents. Once that’s clean it comes out. What are you running — and what’s sitting in your stack that you know you don’t actually need?

@James Gill same boat. We've been building our own too, mostly around drawings and schedules. Biggest win for me is the same thing you said, the AI can work right inside it instead of copying stuff between apps. How are you handling drawing revisions in yours?
CAD exported PDFs vs Scanned PDFs
I have observed that the understanding of drawing quality by the General LLM models differs for CAD exported drawings vs Scanned drawings. CAD exported drawings capture models are able to capture the lines and curve objects. Were as Scanned PDFs it's just one image. Is there any other open source model which reads scanned PDFs better than the generic models like gemini or claude opus ? The constraint I see with any generic multi model LLMs os downsample to smaller size and model never sees the pixel.

Ran into the same thing. What helped us was not sending the whole sheet at once. Cut the scan into tiles at full res, 4 or 6 pieces, and send each one on its own. The model actually sees the detail that way instead of a shrunk down picture. On CAD PDFs you can usually pull the text straight out of the file, but check it, some AutoCAD exports come out garbled.
