What do you want from the field Forman?
Calling all old and new dawgs. What are your expectations ( or demands ) from the trade partner foreman/supers I’m looking for specific personal and planning skills we could train on to elevate the pain on our projects. Exclude , know the plans Know Procore . We all know this area is a common topic.

A great trade partner is proactive, not reactive. They don’t wait for problems to surface, they are able to look ahead and identify issues early within their scope and come to the table with ideas on solutions, not just complaints. They communicate clearly and consistently. I’d rather see over-communication than silence. Surprises in construction are almost always bad ones. They take ownership. It’s not “that’s not my problem.” It’s “how do we solve this as a team?” They stay aware of the bigger picture, understanding how their work impacts other trades and the overall flow of the project, not just their piece of it. they use their expertise. The best trade partners don’t just bring problems to the superintendent they bring informed options and recommendations. And finally they don’t need to be reminded of the basics. JSAs, PPE requirements, cleanup expectations, if they can’t get the little things right they won’t do the big things right either.

@Milo Franco yes I have. I came up with this list by thinking of the best foremen I’ve worked with.
Old Dawg Takt Session
This was great! I have also added some slides directly from a Hoots training session that gives clear step-by-step instructions on how to build a Takt Plan. Let's do a follow-up in 60 days so we can do a bit of a show and tell with our progress. Shout out to Tom, Jason and Boone who, to nobody's surprise, had great input and wisdom to impart on the rest of us. Thanks to Denver for initiating this and bringing a real, concrete challenge to the Old Dawgs.

Appreciate everyone who jumped on, took the lead and shared their insight. This one covered a lot - both high-level thinking and some getting into the weeds - and answered some really good questions. Gave me a lot more confidence heading into my next project. This felt like Old Dawgs breaking down how they actually execute on their projects. Really good stuff! Looking forward to more of these.
Old Dawg's College Visits
Old Dawgs!! We are kicking off our college tour, starting with a visit to Clemson University!! Clemson University Date: 03/10/2026 Time: 2:00 - 4:30 pm EST (Possibly additional classes earlier in the day and a table sit-in) Purpose: Teach a session on Building High-Performing Construction Teams and educate students on current construction conditions. Are there any Old Dawgs that are able to make this event? Really leaning on those who are local, to come down if possible! @Justin Uyar @Hamlin Landis II @Eric Nightingale @John Ellis @Peter Sheridan @Brent Darnell (I know you're coming a couple of weeks later!). We also have some funding that could potentially fly folks in. We plan to have another in Mississippi State a couple of weeks later so stay tuned for more info there. Tentative lineup is: Mississippi State Date: 03/19/2026 Time 8:00-11:00 AM CST Purpose: To do a takt simulation and help them understand and see the production laws in real time. @Boone White, Mississippi isn't really near many others, although I know Hamlin said he was down to come in. 3 makes it a solid visit in my book! Anyone else interested in partying with me and Boone in MS!?
