Not "why can't I stay consistent?" but "is this habit actually working for my life right now?" That's a very different question. And it changes everything. Your 5-Minute Habit Audit: Grab a pen. Answer these three questions honestly: 1. What habit showed up for me this week — even imperfectly? (That one deserves acknowledgment before you move on.) 2. What habit kept slipping — and what was actually in the way? (Not the excuse. The real reason. Timing? Energy? Mental load?) 3. What's one small adjustment I can make — not a harder commitment, a smarter one? (Smaller. Simpler. More realistic for your actual life.) I didn't exercise as much as I wanted this week. So I'm going to get back to basics that worked before and set out my workout clothes before I go to bed. I know that signals my subconscious that were getting up and going to the gym.

1. Running late/urgent 2. Your intention: "I am someone who does what I say I will do." 3. One word for how you feel after you claim it.Actually it's more of a thought that came up...I need to say I will do less. This has been something I've been working on this year and my word for the year is Integrity. So having written that, I feel relieved. I know the things that are most important always get done.

@Jackie Rosch Me too! When our family was going through some really hard times, my husband and I did it automatically a lot! I didn't even really notice it but our neighbor and my son both commented that "you and Dad do that a lot". Then when my daughter was in treatment we all learned about it in family therapy and DBT class.
