WOW. I didn't expect to be entered into the prize draw. I already got a lot from you. Than one conversation on the hot seat helped me immensely. Will I be the lucky winner? Can't wait.
🩺 Community Clinic 2.0. Day 3. Recap
day 3 was about traffic. like cars cannot run without the gasoline, your community will not survive without the new members. but, there is more than one way to skin a cat. sorry, cat lovers 🐈‍⬛ @Alexa Leitner - the founder of GERMANstudio.ling.academy just hit 1,700 members - huge congrats 🎉 no following. no ads. no YouTube. mostly one conversation at a time, on Reddit (who would have thought?) @Des Dreckett got his first members by commenting in other communities on Skool. every single day, on TURBO MODE, so much so, that he got banned ❌ by the end of the day we all agreed on the part nobody wants to hear: - traffic isn't a hack. it's people talking to people. - it's a consistent action. every. sing. day. - it costs you money (ads) and / or time (conversations). pick one, but you're paying either way. huge thanks to @Des Dreckett for carrying the roundtable solo. our second expert - @Chris Hanlon could not make it, but prepared a really cool present for us. thanks, Chris! 🎥 NOW THE RECAP all recordings are in the Classroom (available to everyone till 1 October, only to Premium & VIP after that) with summaries and time codes: - case study with Alexa - roundtable with Des and video recording from Chris - hot seats recording ♨️ THE HOT SEATS the last round, and another round of applause for the brave ones: @Shelby Kretz @Vladimir Belokapov @Ettjen Jansingh @Alexa Leitner @Nikesh Amit you can find links to their communities in the class. And that's the clinic done. 3 days, 3 case studies, 3 roundtables, 3 rounds of hot seats. i'm tired and very happy. 🏆 THE PRIZES & WHAT'S NEXT

🩺 Community Clinic 2.0. Day 2. Recap
day 2 was about engagement. and the first thing i said on the call was that i don't like the word 🙃 by the end of the day nobody had found a better one, but we all agreed on the part that matters: - engagement for the sake of engagement is busy work. - you want people talking because it moves them somewhere. - otherwise it's just gif wars with extra steps. and after yesterday's chaos, today actually went as planned and a really cool teamwork. thanks to @Paulo Costa, The Roaster for letting us pick apart how Roast & Promote gets 78% of members posting, commenting and participating. huge thanks to @Éva Raposa and @Shannon Boyer for this important and meaningful roundtable discussion that was way more honest and substantial than most paid courses on this topic. 🎥 NOW THE RECAP all recordings are in the Classroom (available to everyone till 1 October, only to Premium & VIP after that) with summaries and time codes (still think this deserves a like): - case study with Paulo - roundtable with Eva and Shannon - hot seats recording ♨️ THE HOT SEATS still i believe one of the most useful part of the clinic. and another round of applause for the brave ones: @Sandra Martinez @Vladimir Belokapov @Kate DuBois @Nikesh Amit plus @Diana Frank who jumped in with the story of a tiny spin-off that outsold her main community in 3 days. you can find links to their communities in the class. 🏆 THE PRIZES thanks to our lovely sponsor - Community Income Mastermind - community for Skool community builders ready to go from free to profitable, we have our grand prize - annual membership ($497) to be awarded to just 1 person via name lottery among all active participants.

@Lidia Axe you said my offer was too broad. I have narrowed it down and I'm working on narrowing it down even more.

@Lidia Axe thank you.
🚨 SKOOL UPDATE: Keywords Removed
if you check your settings, and go to Discovery tab, you will notice that it is different + keywords are GONE. hope you have them written down somewhere else, outside Skool. people noticed and asked in Skoolers. Sam commented below... hm, it would have been nice to share this in Skool News before removing them, or am i asking for too much?! rhythorical question... anyway, now you do need to focus on: - your community name - short description - about page text to include keywords so that the big smart algo pick them up and use them for search. good old SEO rules.

I did notice that last night. But I guess they have all the data on what's inside the community to know what keywords matter to our communities.

@Lidia Axe not so much that I trust it. But platforms algorithms is not something I can control. Can only try to understand it and work with it. At least that's how I see it.
Vanity Metrics vs Real Progress
So when we're trying to measure our success in our online business it's very easy to get lost on vanity metrics. We may chase numbers and get high on the dopamine of seeing those points go up, but after a while we realize that we're not really reaching the goals that will make us trully fulfilled. But what are the metrics that really matter for you? Well it all depends on your goals. Metrics can point out how many people are finding you, following you, paying you, engaging with you and keep coming back to your space among other stuff. And skool gives you this emoji badges for you to keep track on your progress. For me, metrics matter because I want to build a professional portfolio and have this group as a success story. But trying to optmize my results and focusing on that may shift my focus from what really matters to stuff that will only boost my ego. Like focusing on member growth instead of going afer quality members. Or forcing engagement with gif wars and forced follow up questions instead of having genuine high quality conversations. I personally used to care about my discovery position, I got to around 250 on the money categoty at some point, but I soon realized this didn't matter unless I got the ⭐, that doen't exist anymore. And after the growth boost I just disabled my discovery and stopped caring about it as I count mostly on organic outreach. I still care about member count, because it's a portifolio success story for future clients. BUT this is not something I'm super focused at, I'm just showing up and trying to build something cool that will be worth for other people and the numbers will eventually be just an accessory to my awesome offers. What about you? What are the numbers that really matter for you?

Thanka for this reminder Paulo. It's really easy to get distracted with analytics. They're important because they give us valuable information, but much like you said, improving numbers just for the sake of it, shouldn't be a priority. I want engaged members that brings other people in. At the end of the day I'm running a business so what I want is paying customers. Customer acquisition. I also look at how many hours of work I do each month vs income. Am I working too much? What works, what doesn't? What changes do I need to make? Those are things that I look at. Only just started on Skool, but I've been building communities for a whole now, online and offline.
