Trying to get into digital painting more.
Most of yall have probably already seen two of these, but they’re part of the group so I thought I’d share them again anyway. Right now I’m trying to learn how to paint digitally better, I see some amazing art and really want to reach a more professional level. I’m really a newb when it comes to digital, I’ve done stuff, but not really that much. All to say y’all’s tips to make these better will probably help me to learn better than any video, so I’m excited to see your thoughts.

The person I’m doing these for said he liked the female one the most, so I may try to move into a cleaner more anime style.

And here is the next, I think I made everything so dark it’s hard to see, yet that’s also the classes ability…
Poses are so difficult!
I've finished the illustration I talked about yesterday. Not 100% what I intended, but happy with this first try in this style of digital painting. I am aware that the biggest part of why it is not a complete success is the pose. Poses are so difficult!

Have you tried basically figure drawing? I really enjoy drawing people in different poses. Not nude or anything, but just so you can get used to understanding how the body flows more than the technical anatomy and all that junk. References are of course the best to help draw poses. I think knowing what the characters is doing can be helpful, as in why are they in that pose? You’ve probably done this stuff before stuff before, but I hope it helps.
Advice?
Hi - I'm new here. Several years ago I drew illustrations for a childrens book (old skool way - on paper) for a friend who wrote the story. However, when we tried to contact a publisher or self-publish we ran into the issue that the images needed to be in Vectors for publications. This is something that wasn't in my wheelhouse. I had the images professionally scanned, with hi-resolution. I was told even this way, it wouldn't work for publication. I've tried contacted/Hire mulitple illustrators to re-draw (or copy) my work into a digital form, but they either use AI, or they can't/won't recreate my drawings. I have lost a bit of money trying to do this. I tried using Procreate - to try and recreate them myself, the few I did came out with okay results but not exactly the way I wanted them. I'm not knowledgable enough using this. Is there a way to learn how to digitally draw (a program, lesson, school etc.) for this? What have you found are the best tools to create digital art? I want them images to look hand drawn with either color pencil look or watercolor. Any suggestions would be so greatly and sincerely appreciated. It's been 5 years (off and on) of trying to figure it out with no success.

I see your problem! Yikes, so from the little I know about adobe illustrator I think there is a function where you can turn a raster image into a vector. (Literally just clicking a couple buttons) however I’m incredibly doubtful this would give you the results you are looking for. I think usually vector images are much simpler than raster so it likely will simplify your art too much. Is your art water color type? Or more simplified? That could likely have an effect. If you don’t mind sharing some of the art I’d love to take a look! Also, is this a problem you’ve had with every publisher you’ve contacted? I don’t really know how all that works. I’m curious if I could replicate your art in vector, however, I’m pretty awful with vector art programs.
Newest art
A relative of mine is making their own board game and asked/said I could do some of the art for them if I wanted. So I decided to give it a try and draw a character for one of the “classes” (rpg style game) I just thought I’d share it and ask for critique. There’s for versions for a class called “boxer”

@Gert-Jan Feijens It’s definitely worth it for me to look more into how games like dnd use their art, just so I’m not doing something too cluelessly. And thank you for that comment, it means a lot because honestly sometimes it feels like I’m not capable enough to draw what I want to. But of course all in good time, skills aren’t learned instantly after all! Thanks a lot for your thoughtful comments!

@Henric Aryee hmm, I see what you mean I think. I definitely need to practice drawing backgrounds, because they are really important but I’m not very good at them.
Item illustration workflow (speedpaint)
I just came across this video again, showing my approach to the little 'Item Illustrations' I was making for a client. They are so small, and yet a lot of effort goes into those icons 🫠 Fun fact: I write my own music for these video's 😆

Wow, this is really awesome. Are you using Adobe illustrator? That’s what it looked like to me, Illustrator is so hard for me to use just seeing you make that is really impressive. Especially with all the details.
