Writing progress update
I’ve got two WIPs on my desk at the moment one deep in the middle stretch where the story really starts to demand clarity, and the other still taking shape, finding its rhythm and voice. It’s that familiar phase where the work asks more of you, tighter structure, sharper character choices, and a bit of patience with the process. I’m always interested in where other writers are in their cycle. Are you drafting, revising, or letting something rest before the next pass?

@Rob Cole That definitely counts honestly, especially the nonprofit project, that’s real work reaching real people 😊. I get what you mean about earlier pieces too, we all have those moments. Have you published anything yet on platforms like Amazon or D2D and other.. or is this current WIP the one you’re planning as your first wide release?

@Rob Cole I dropped you a DM, if you get a chance I’d love for you to take a look.
Edit Pain❓
Something I’ve noticed with many writers: finishing the manuscript feels like the hardest part until the next stage begins: editing, formatting, and finding the right agent. That’s where many authors start feeling overwhelmed. A great story can lose impact if the editing isn’t strong, the formatting isn’t professional, or the right industry guidance isn’t there. Curious about other writers’ experiences here. Which part has been the most challenging for you so far? • Editing the manuscript • Formatting the book for publishing • Finding the right agent • Something else
Honest question for authors
When you first published your book, what expectation turned out to be completely different from reality? Was it: 1. How long it takes to get sales 2. How hard marketing is 3. Getting reviews 4. Understanding Amazon’s algorithm

Let’s talk about the real obstacles beginners face beyond just writing the book.

@Rob Cole Honestly, that’s more common than people admit. Most of us “figure it out” the messy way the first time. When you say you’re stuck in the publishing part, is it the technical setup (formatting, platforms, ISBNs), or the confidence side of actually hitting publish?

The form rejections can be brutal, especially when you’ve put so much into the manuscript. Are you getting any personalized feedback at all, or mostly standard responses? Hoping that full request comes through soon, that’s always an encouraging sign when it happens.
