High School Coach / Still Figuring Out Who I Am.
What’s going on, everyone? I’m a basketball coach based out of Anchorage, Alaska… Yes, Alaska. Lol. I picked up a camera when I turned 18, with an early dream of getting into social media marketing and creating content for businesses to use on Facebook. At the time, I was convinced I didn’t want to work a regular 9–5 and that I wanted to build generational wealth. I had no idea what I was doing, didn’t follow through intentionally, and life just kept moving. I’ve always been a hard worker, and at 19, I found myself with an opportunity to be a store manager at Rent-A-Center. I was relocated to Sacramento, making really good money—but I was extremely unhappy. Working 60+ hour weeks trying to prove myself burned me out quickly. I moved back home, worked a few different jobs, and eventually built a lifestyle I had to maintain. That meant focusing less on building something for myself and more on the jobs that paid me every two weeks. Eventually, I started coaching youth basketball, and it quickly became a passion. Now, at 27, I’ve been working at the high school I graduated from as a Behavior and Community Outreach Specialist for the past four years. I run a youth basketball program for elementary and middle school girls, I’m a high school head coach, and I lead an AAU program that takes girls from all over the state to compete for college scholarships during the spring and summer. I absolutely love what I do—but at times, I still feel a void. Recently, I’ve been spending the summer tagging along on shoots with my best friend, who runs a media company. I’ve really enjoyed being an extra set of hands and learning again. That’s why I’m here. I keep finding myself picking up a camera—over and over again. If I’m being honest, I don’t know exactly what I want out of the media field, but it brings me real joy. It’s something I’ve gone back and forth with for the last nine years. Keep dreaming, keep chasing, and keep going.
