Do you have a fasting strategy? How about a joy strategy?
I was grateful and blessed to spend the day yesterday with a cousin I hadn’t seen in over two years. At one point, she asked me what my fasting strategy is, how much I fast every day. I said something like…it varies day to day. I hadn’t really thought about what my fasting strategy is right now. When I started fasting, I had all sorts of plans and strategies. At first, it was 16:8 that I tried. 16:8 helped me curb nighttime binges and balance my blood sugar. Then, I experimented with 18:6. I extended my fasts to 24 hours, 36, and eventually 48. At some point, I got into a pattern of doing two fasts a week of 42 hours, doing one feasting day with 3 meals or more, and the rest of the time doing 16:8, or something like that. Every 3 months, I would do a 3-5 day fast to get into deeper autophagy. This pattern was ReALLY effective for helping me let go of over 70 pounds of excess weight. Most recently though, my pattern is “I do what I feel like.” The technical term for it is IDWIFL :oP It’s been working pretty well for me. I strive for doing at least one fast of 36-42 hours per week, but it doesn’t always happen. Last week, I had 3 days of one meal a day, and one 36 hour fast. This week, I’ve had 3 days of 3 meals a day. For my birthday in the beginning of May, I did a 5 day fast to gift myself stem cells. Then, I parent chaperoned a trip to Catalina Island and didn’t fast at all for a week. Well ok, I fasted once for 18 hours, but that was it. If I find myself feasting a lot, I make it a point to take more pauses in between eating and lean into fasting. If I find myself fasting a lot, I recognize it’s time to feast and throw in a day or two of feasting. I don’t stress about it at all, just strive for having some sort of balance between fasting and feasting. And it works for me :) What’s your fasting strategy? Do you have one? It's always been a passion of mine to connect people for mutual THRIVING. It's been fun doing that in the realm of health and wellness, in this community. I'm leaning into connections more as I rebrand this community and create a bigger platform for all the amazing health and wellness professionals who have gravitated towards this space. There will still be posts about fasting and stress eating, and weekly support groups to navigate all of it, and I'm absolutely available for one-on-one coaching for anyone needing support in those areas. Those of us seeking support with health and wellness, we get to learn more about the resources and opportunities available here. Those of us working in health and wellness, we get more of a platform to share knowledge/expertise and support others. It's a bit of an experiment...we will do it for 1-3 months and see how it goes. Announcing the Stories of Transformation Contest!
Thursday, April 23- Friday, May 1 We all have a story of transformation or two, from our past, present, or future. This contest is your chance to share your story, learn from the stories of others, and maybe win a month of Thrive Community VIP, which includes a one-on-one Thrive Deep Dive Session. If you're a business or Skool Group owner, you can absolutely use this story in your business. Stories are one of the best marketing tools we have, as @Éva Raposa can attest...she had a category in her group called Story Selling. How to Participate- 1.) Pick a story of transformation you want to share. It can be a story from your past, something you're going through right now, OR a story written by your future self about a transformation you have yet to go through. The latest option can be very fun and a powerful way to connect with future you, and yet all of these options can be fun and insightful for you. 2.) Use the Stories of Transformation tab to share your story. It can be shared in writing, as a post, or it can be recorded as a video, on YouTube or Loom. It can be 5 minutes long or 20 minutes long, it's entirely up to you. 3.) Vote by liking and commenting on stories that have been posted. Top 3 Stories of Transformation creators will get a month of VIP!! If winners are already on VIP, they'll get an extra one-on-one Thrive Deep Dive Coaching call. 4.). Post your Story of Transformation wherever you'd like...this is your creative material, you can use it to connect with others, promote your community, or in any which way you'd like. I got the idea for this Contest through a fun and inspiring Challenge that @Ben Sherry was running in his community, Oracy Club.
