I don't have any port bonsai, but definitely possible. There's a guy on YouTube that does lots of them, called Zane's Bonsai. On fb there's a Melbourne artis, Malaya Dragon yee, he has some crazy amazing jades.
The ugly pine
Hi! The last video featured a white pine with a graft and showed the approach Tien would follow at the nursery. As he says us beginners are scared to chop our little precious trees. This is what I did with mine, i'd love some feedback and advice on next steps keep improving it. In the link below there are images of the tree before the last lot of work. https://youtube.com/shorts/QbqGs9UgMwI?si=-ww487mLjhvvQfBC

Airlayering ficus Nerifolia
Hi all! I have a willow leaf fig that I want to airlayer, the top of the tree has some inverse taper that would create an amazing base for a new tree. When is the best time of the year to do this work? Thanks!

@Tien Liao awesome, thank you Tien! Will attack that tree soon!

Ended up doing the airlayer in early Feb, the top of the tree is looking healthy, the bottom started budding which is what I wanted and now I have little branches in some good spots for the new tree developing at the bottom thanks @Tien Liao for the advice will update when it is time to remove the layer in a few months hopefully 😁
Japanese Larch - help needed
Recently got this larch and it is in need of serious attention before doing styling work. What can be my next steps to bring it back to health in our current Melbourne weather? The picture is a rough plan for future styling, but I won't be doing that work until it is growing strong and healthy?

@Conner Jones it definitely looks pot bound, the picture was taken early autumn, with temps of about 20°c to 25°c in Melbourne. The tree should have been at its peak, but looks a bit sad. I have started feeding it, will do a repot with minimal root pruning in spring, and put it into a bigger pot to reinvigorate it. Thanks for the response.

@Leonhard Stolz growing from seed can be satisfying. Second year for this little guy. I'm growing it slowly. Trying to keep it small.
