What are you using?? Share your favorite art supplies!
Whenever I am live on social I probably answer these questions a thousand times 😂 "what brush I am using?" "what ink I am using?" "what paper am I inking on?" So I finally put together a nice big long Amazon list of all the different materials that I use and personally prefer for my work for anyone who wants recommendations OR is looking to test out new materials! Check it out here: https://amzn.to/3MAvazi Also please share your favorite pens, pencils, inks, watercolors, paper, markers, paint, canvases, etc. below! I personally am always interesting in trying out new pens despite the fact that I already have 5000+ pens cluttering my studio 🫣

Shaedtler 780 leadholder clutch pencil for sketching, gum eraser for light detailing, 0.3 and 0.5 mechanicals for clean lines, and Procreate for my comic pages
Tried again
Okay, so I redid the hair... I don't hate it, but it still feels like a lazy result.

@Tasha Jeffcoat Looking good! The textures are really coming together. Have you considered a holding rule? Basically, a heavy line to contain your details. For some illustrators it’s helpful for defining the forms. You have some really elegant shades happening now, which honestly a hard line might work against you. Alternatively, varying line widths in your detailing might help achieve the same effect. :)
My sketch today
So today I'm sketching a Chinese girl, idk who is she cause I draw it from my imagination but I think she look pretty right? So what do you guys think? Good or nope

@Kenzie Alexander She’s looking good! One piece of feedback that I might offer is to watch how sharp and pronounced you make the jawline and cheekbones. They tend to give the character more masculine characteristics. Softening them may help. Keep going!
Inking
I’ve done some rough inks on these. Does anyone have any advice for adding “advanced” inks?

Nice lines. One thing I would play with is line weight. For example, using a heavy line to hold the outer edge and use thinner lines for your finer details. Varying the lines will help accentuate the overall figures and build visual contrast and interest. Hopefully that helps!

I’ve always wanted to become a comic artist since I was a kid, and I’ve learned a lot. But I always can learn more.
