Day 3 How to Pray-The Jesus Model
Prayer Aligns Your Will to God’s Will One of the most powerful moments in Jesus’ prayer life happened in the garden of Gethsemane. He was honest about His pain.He was honest about His desire. He was honest about His fear. And still, He prayed: “Not my will, but yours be done.” This is the heart of transforming prayer. Prayer is not just telling God what you want. It is allowing God to reshape what you want. That means real prayer will sometimes challenge your desires. It will confront pride. It will expose fear. It will uncover motives. Jesus shows us that surrender is not weakness, it is trust. And some of the deepest transformation in prayer happens when your heart shifts from demanding to trusting. Scripture “Yet not my will, but yours be done.” — Luke 22:42 (NIV) Action Steps - Identify one prayer request where you’ve been resisting surrender - Pray: “God, align my desires with Yours” - Journal about an area where obedience feels difficult - End your prayer time today by saying, “Your will be done”

This may be a stretch, but I believe part of what keeps us dishonest before the Lord in prayer is it becomes too routine. We create habits within prayer that make everyday look exactly same, denying our ability to be led by the Spirit and connect with the heart of God. Isaiah 29:13 says that even though we may honor God with our lips, we remove our hearts from God because our reverence for Him exists in a place of learned habitual routines. I believe adopting a prayer life of honesty with God - about any situation / circumstance - maintains the proper posture of reverence and tethers our heart to God. It establishes a fluid, pure relationship. And in that we are able to perceive the goodness of God’s will for each day. He’s able to show us His wisdom which we receive with fresh understanding because our hearts are open for something new and honest from God.
