EP: 17 BIG RUN WEEKEND. Dropping Bombs?
Ok ok ok I hope you all got at your "turkey trots" out of your systems last week. lol and are ready to Go big again for episode 17 of Eat Cake Run Club Big Run Weekend. Pro tip, the bigger miles the more X-mas cookies and Nog one can consume guilt free.. Just saying. Our current 20 mile "bomb 💣💥streak is @ 7 weeks this weekend... the old record is still standing at 8 weeks... Do we have what it takes to keep tracking that old record down.... "we shall see"... The holiday season is always a busy one, life and activities become very time consuming and it easy to just say we will get back to it again after the new year.... But that is where BRW comes in. Remember that BRW is not about miles, or pace it is about getting out and doing something hard, sometimes that hard is just getting in a run. But you will never regret getting it in. I promise. Let's have a BIG WEEKEND and be sure to share it with this group. No matter the run if you did it, it makes us all encouraged and better. You all are amazing humans and I say this kindly and with full honesty, there is amazing accomplishments and achievements this group has had..... However.... I know for a fact we are still just getting started and that we all can level it up notch. We all have more to give. I promise that too. LFG. V

Everything is so busy right now, so I was unable to go super big like I really wanted to,however, I did do something kinda big, I did 5 miles Saturday and turned right around and did 7 last night. I have never done that, i usually take a day in between and do an easy mile for recovery, i skipped recovery, lol. And I feel fantastic. Which has encouraged me to start re-thinking my future running plans, adding more miles into the daily grind, and being more intentional with my strength training, just, you know, level up kinda "re-thinking" ..

Winter Running tips... Add your recommendation...
❄️ Winter Running Tips (ECRC Edition) ❄️ ***add the best tip you have for "winter running in your current geological location. 1. Dress in layers…Because nothing humbles you faster than starting a run freezing, and finishing it looking like a sweaty onion with clothing tied around every limb. 2. Warm up inside, do some high knees in your kitchen. Do some butt kicks in your hallway. Bonus points if your family watches you and questions every life decision you’ve ever made. 3. Accept that you will slip on ice.Just call it “dynamic balance training” and pretend it was intentional. Olympic-level agility, baby. 4. Don’t overdress, You may start the run feeling like you’re entering Antarctica, but 10 minutes later you’ll swear someone put you in a sauna with a windbreaker on. 5. Protect your face.Wind chill will slap you harder than your alarm clock at 5AM. Buffs, balaclavas, or your hand pretending to be a shield — use something. 6. Accept the snot rocket.Winter running is basically a faucet you can’t turn off. Do it discreetly… and away from the wind. (Trust me.) 7. Keep your water warm.Because nothing says “athlete” like trying to drink your hydration only to discover it’s turned into a slushy.

🤔 If you're cold, run faster, or slower with longer strides and more bounce. Higher heart rate= more blood flow= WARM.. LOL🥶❄️ On a more serious note though, just get to know yourself better, cold weather running is a great opportunity to do that, to understand your body just a little better than you did before. And I know for me personally, ⚠️Remember To Hydrate⚠️its so super easy for me to forget hydration during the cold months.

@Kyle Dickerson I'm with ya on the cold ears, I can handle some extremely cold temps, as long as my ears are covered.

What the literal HECK you CAKE EATERS.... EP:15 BRW
So I come on here this morning to give the recap on EP: 15 of BIG RUN WEEKEND... and was more than dismayed that..... I DID NOT POST IT..... Please forgive me, it must be the push-up, burpees and miles and lack of CAKE . This mistake will not happen again. However.... One would think SOMEONE would have said something..... Admin team @Peg Lawler or @Allie Griffin would have caught it... or the amazing @Leo Raymond , @Dale Garris or @Sean Morgan would have noticed it..... I could say @Scott Birdsall too but he gets a pass with the LURGY episode. Anyhow, this one falls on me, as we are only as great as the leader.... OK! now on to the GREAT stuff... MASSIVE WEEKEND AGAIN, I know you all were worried about if we kept the 20 miles bomb 💣💥 streak alive to 6 weeks..... or are you? ....... HAHAH ok I know you are.... AND YES STEAK IS ALIVE AND ADVANCING TO FIGHT ANOTHER WEEK. @Leo Raymond again drops the bomb on a Saturday master piece! I know first hand what it takes to dig in week after week and find a way to get those BIG RUNS in. There are countless "good" reasons on why he could not get it in.... But Leo gets it done weekend after weekend. Thank you all you do for this club Leo. The ageless example you have set for us DOES NOT GO UNNOTICED! @Dale Garris Goes a big 15+ on the trails. Dale watching you push more bigger and longer miles is incredible and inspiring to all of us. Thank you for allowing us all on the journey and the amazing recap videos you create makes us all feel like we were along for the ride with you. Leo and I were chatting and can't wait to have you drop a 20 bomb 💣 soon. You got it just need to drop it..... As I have said before you are a key part of what we are building here. Thank you for showing up and teaching us all how we can be better!

@Allie Griffin it was a challenge for sure. I walked a lot, lol, but most of the walking was after running as hard as I could up these monster hills we have here. Definitely the hardest, and longest, run I've had so far. Definitely worth it though💪😁
