RUN ROULETTE is here...... "February Challenge" .... LFG!
🎰 RUN ROULETTE CHALLENGE Eat Cake Run Club….. Run Roulette is exactly what it sounds like: you don’t choose the miles… the MILES choose you. Every day is a gamble. Some days are light. Some days are spicy. All days are about showing up. 🌀 HOW IT WORKS - Every morning, we will ask Siri or Alexa to give a random number between 1 and 26 - Whatever number is given = that day’s required miles Example: Number is 5 → run 5 miles Number is 18 → run 18 miles Number is 26 → buckle up 😅 - Miles can be completed however you need: One run or multiple runs Outdoor or treadmill Run, jog, walk, shuffle—we don’t care how fast, just that you do the miles 👀 PLAY ALONG & EARN POINTS Then head to the Run Roulette Chat Post Thread. You can earn points in TWO ways: 1️⃣ Guess the Miles (1 Point) - Guess what the next day’s miles will be - Guesses must be posted before the daily miles are announced - Correct guess = 1 point 2️⃣ Run the Miles (1 Point) - Complete the exact miles required for that day - Post your run (screenshot, photo, or app log) - Complete the miles = 1 point 💡 You can earn 2 points in a single day if you: - Guess correctly and - Run the miles 🏆 PRIZES At the end of the month: - Points will be totaled - The member with the most points wins Winner receives: - 💵 $100 CASH - 👕 Exclusive, unreleased Eat Cake Run Club apparel (free) If there’s a tie, we’ll handle it the Eat Cake way (details announced if needed). 🎂 THE GOOD STUFF! - This challenge is about fun, consistency, and doing hard things - You are always encouraged to: Listen to your body Scale when needed Skip a day if life or health requires it Run Roulette is here… LETS GOOO!

Maybe 4
I wonder, lol.
I'm just curious...... Who else is just routinely doing 100 push ups almost everyday now since we finished the 4th Quarter challenge? Like, its just part of the work out habitually?

@Amy Tingay There are two main reasons. First, the experience. When you head out on an out-and-back course, it feels like an adventure. You’re moving into something. New scenery, new turns, new stretches of road or trail. There’s a sense of exploration. Even though you’ll come back the same way, it doesn’t feel repetitive — it feels purposeful. I go out, you see what’s out there, and then I earn my way back. It’s simple. It’s clean. Second — and this is the BIG one — the mental battle. On a looped course, every time you pass the starting point, you’re giving your mind an exit door. Every loop is another opportunity for your brain to whisper, “You’ve done enough.” The repetition can get monotonous, especially on longer runs. You see the same landmarks. The same corners. The same people. And with each pass, the temptation to stop grows stronger. But on an out-and-back? Once you hit halfway, there’s no debate. There’s no shortcut. There’s no easy out. You have to come back. That’s when it gets real. That’s when survival mode kicks in. That’s when the miles start being earned. The mental shift at the turnaround point is powerful — it becomes a mission. The only way home is through the work. Out and back all the way! V Ps. Great question and great conversation started! Love it ! 🙏🏻

EAT CAKE RUN CLUB BIG RUN WEEKEND – EP: 27
Week 27 feels different. Not longer . Not faster . Just honest. If Week 26 was about grit, this week is about perspective. We’re far enough into the year now that the routine has set in. The long runs are no longer shocking your system. The early alarms don’t surprise you. Running has quietly become part of who you are again — not an event, not a challenge, just something you do. And that’s powerful. Because here’s the reality check: most people stop right about now. Not because they can’t continue — but because it’s no longer exciting. The transformation isn’t instant. The scale doesn’t move dramatically. The pace improvements are subtle. The outside validation fades. This is the crossroads. You either need excitement to continue…or you decide you don’t. Week 27 is about choosing depth over drama. Summer is inching closer. Race calendars are filling. And when those starting lines arrive, they won’t care about your motivation in February. They’ll reflect your discipline. The work you’re doing right now is quiet equity. It’s an investment. It doesn’t feel glamorous depositing small efforts week after week — but when the moment comes, you’ll withdraw strength, confidence, and durability. This weekend, instead of asking, “How far do I have to go?” Ask, “are you being who you said you wanted to be” Maybe your run isn’t the fastest.Maybe it isn’t the longest.Maybe it’s simply steady. Steady wins seasons. There’s something grounding about Week 27. It reminds us that running isn’t just about chasing big miles — it’s about building a steady engine. A calm mind. A body that knows how to endure. No fireworks needed, No grand speeches. Just RUN The miles are shaping you, even when they feel ordinary. And "ordinary effort" , repeated long enough, becomes extraordinary strength. SO We keep going. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

Cross Training
If we already hit this…my bad. Curious what you all do for cross training, and why/what benefits you like that it provides. I’m going through a lifeguard course for work, and the swim tonight was torturous. But as I sat there on the pool deck hoping my soul would return from its out of body journey, I realized I had one of the most intense full leg pumps I’ve ever experienced. I’m planning to incorporate some swimming in the training plan and see how/if it does anything.
