@Dom Mendoza The same thing happens to me, plus it narrows the stereo image. When I disable it, it sounds much better, wider and deeper.

NLS Channel?
Touching on what @Pedro Arechiga was talking about, mixing from the top down, I usually start with some NLS.. just one.. and I usually find that Mike works best.. Then when I bypass and activate, the difference is night and day!! I know @Dom Mendoza does something similar.

Do you guys know the N-Console or A-Console from Sonimus? That's what I use for my final auxiliary groups, with a bit of Crosstalk and a Relay to add a little more stereo. It's my way of emulating an analog summer inside Pro Tools

@Darwin Gibson I like it, it has a lot of parameters to give that glue to the groups. I used to use the SSL4000E, but it has too much background noise even if you turn off the V Gain ALL.Imagine that on five groups, it leaves a noticeable hiss in the background.

Automation?
What sort of automation do you guys do? When do you do it? I usually do my last and final automation on the mix bus as I am winding down the mix.

Sometimes I automate the mixbus, from mono to stereo, more stereo in the choruses, +1dB in the choruses, it depends on the aesthetic direction of the mix and how much the mix needs to breathe; if it's too tight, I try to do a lot more automations.
