In all honesty I find just saying it for what it is out loud or to someone you are close to. Highlights what it is and cuts off any excuses which for me is the most critical point before self pity or the insidious planning starts. Then you can work to find something that is productive and still scratches that dopamine itch. But for me the point of an urge is the time to broadcast it before I have time to think.
Introduce Yourself Here
We know the drill: you join a new community, browse a little, and before you know it, you’ve been lurking in the shadows for months, nodding silently at great posts but never dropping a comment. We're all here because we share a common interest, but the real magic happens when we get to know the unique people behind the usernames. No pressure, no fancy pitch needed—just tell us a little about yourself 🙌 Use the prompts below if you want (or feel free to freestyle): 1. What Keeps You Busy? (The Day Job/Passion Project) 2. What Do You Do for Fun? (Recharge Time) 3. What Do You Want from This Community? (Your Goals) Be honest! What are you hoping to gain from being here? ✅Are you looking to find an accountability partner? ✅Do you need help troubleshooting a specific problem? ✅Are you just here to share bad puns and good resources? ✅Is there a particular skill you want to learn or teach? Ready to step out of the shadows? Drop your introduction in the comments below. We can't wait to meet you! 🦾

Hi I’m Curtis. I am a full time accountant working for a big multinational. I spend half my time working out what I need to be doing and the other half second guessing the decisions I’ve made. I have 3 kid each with their own multifaceted persona and a wife who is amazing and holding the world that is our family together. For fun I generally get lost in a book and enjoy doing very little after the work is done and the kids are in bed (possibly a bad habit in itself). I have had my fair share of issues dealing with bad habits and forming coping strategies in all the wrong ways. I took the decision to quit alcohol four years ago which was the best decision I ever made and was aided by the support of others. I will be honest I’ve never willingly shared my experiences with an aim to learn from them. So I would like to get a conversation going around the pattern of bad habits.
