The vital importance of a handshake
It sets an important stage! Direct eye contact, a way to convey honesty, confidence, and trustworthiness in one single action. Recently, I shook hands with two young home service guys at my home. Both no eye contact. One was this contorted fingers only half handshake. The other was weak almost limp. Both were noticed and unsettling to me. Are parents or schools not teaching this vital art. Yet a confident, full handshake with eye contact and a pleasant smile conveys so many positives. Share a few recent experiences and how you felt. Also, were you taught or did you learn from experience?

@Nancy Seymour learned it early on in my younger new in the business world days! Firm handshake. And oh the looking into the eyes as you shake hands. Many times I learned, it's a cultural thing not to do so in any number of countries. Here in the states it makes you look shifty and untrustworthy. Depending on the circumstances and the timing I share the info with the young person. Nothing worse than a clammy weak handshake when you first meet someone.

Good point, some countries it's considered offensive and or aggressive if you look someone in the eyes.
