Undershirts
Alright gents, still trying to work out this elevated blue collar style I’ve had going for about 5 months now. I’ve gotten some better fitting short sleeve button up, I know some don’t really like them but I’m inside and out a lot and it seems to make sense to me, but I’ve noticed that the sweat has been almost embarrassingly noticeable. I usually wear the vented guide shirts so I felt an undershirt wouldn’t make much since but would it cut back on the amount of visible sweat from working out side or do I need to find a better option for sweat control?

@Justin Tillery my underarms oddly aren’t a problem at all. After I switched to an aluminum free deodorant, I hardly sweat at all there.

@Justin Tillery Oh! Gotcha, I’ll definitely check it out.
Workouts
I have a question for all of my fellow gym rats. Do you lift light weights with more reps or heavy weights with fewer reps? Both build muscle when done to failure. Light weights are easier on the joints and nervous system, making recovery easier. Using heavy weights builds more strength than using light weights. BUT the key to all of this is lifting to failure. I do both in a given week (with 3 to 5 sets and resting 1.5 to 2 minutes between sets). Rest is important, and I try to do weight training 3 to 4 days a week and cardio for 3, and I take one day off to recoup and restore. I meditate every day and I can highly recommend its recuperative effects. So what do you do? Light? Heavy? Rest? Meditate?

I’m a little late to this discussion but when I was working out regularly, which I’ve neglected, I always did my sets in 15, 12, and 8. Increasing the weight 5-10lbs east time. I found I wasn’t having to recover as much when doing it this way and didn’t need to have someone spot on the barbell lifts.
What Was Your Wake-Up Call Into Style?
Random question for the brothers here when did y’all first start caring about how you actually looked? For me it wasn’t even about fashion at first, just realizing the way I showed up was affecting how I felt. Now I’m deep in it… scent, fit, grooming, the whole package. Curious what sparked it for y’all. Respect to everyone leveling up ✊

@Emmanuel Digits I was 23-24 at the time and didn’t like the skinny jeans and baggy shirts. I also didn’t feel like I needed slacks and dress shirts every day. While a brand wouldn’t be a bad idea, I’ve never given it much thought. Most of what I wear falls within the Americana aesthetic. Mostly well-fitting jeans, flannels, guide shirts, and such. I work three jobs currently and it requires me to be versatile in my wardrobe. Fortunately, I’m in the south so I can wear a pearl snap to work and no one looks at it weird. I can also wear the same pearl snap, so long as I haven’t gotten anything on it from a pretrip and issue with a toilet, to Sunday service. On weeks I preach, I wear a suit. When I’m with the students, it’s a graphic tee and ball cap. Currently whittling down my wardrobe to be more versatile than it is currently. Apologies for the rambling, was trying to give the full scope.

@Emmanuel Digits If I ever get to a point I can slow down and do that, I’ll definitely remember this and see what we can come up with. I appreciate the interest on your end too. Inspires and encourages me.
Budget minded
For those of us who are on a budget, is there a place online to purchase a decent sport coat? I'm a bit on the portly side and looking for something around 54 short, to be tailored.

@Christopher Lavis I’ll add to this and say to hit up some on some of the ritzier parts of towns too. I’ve always had good luck finding solid sports coats there too.
Straight Vs Slim Fit
Hi everyone, Do people think that slim or straight fit looks better on a man, or does it depend on what trousers? I was thinking about jeans primarily, maybe chinos too? Thanks in advance for your help.

I usually go with a straight fit for trousers, suit pants, and chinos since my calves are big and make slim look and feel weird. For jeans, I usually go with boot or relaxed fit because I’m usually wearing boots with those, where I am a nice part of dark wash jeans, cowboy boots, and a pearl snap are considered dressing up lol
